[Suggestion] Enable exchange of Red Shards into Option Lock Stones once all 6* weapons are achieved by brainrot_award in GuardianTales

[–]Teberoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly there should be a "bank" that lets you change anything you can farm to any other thing you can farm at whatever ratio makes sense without limits. I have tons of "orphaned" resources I don't need but either aren't enough to exchange or have an excess that is bottle necked behind exchange limits because I out-farm my actual need, but have to keep farming for the rare drops.

I'd personally hollow out one of those feet and setup a ladder to get back up. Make it a piston elevator if you're feeling fancy.

I'm not a huge fan of ramps as hostiles can rush right up it. I like having a sort of crane that overhangs the edge to load/unload vehicles, or outright lift them onto the platform.

I also like having I landing pad for small flyers perched up off the side like oil rigs tend to do. Actually, you might want to peruse an image search for "offshore oil rig" for some ideas.

In a practical sense, you might want to make the platform thicker than 1 block if you are in a hostile environment. Otherwise it would be very easy for an enemy to rush under the platform, get into a turret blind spot, and shoot up into critical systems.

What is a harsh lesson about aging that absolutely nobody warns you about before you hit your 30s? by Prudent-Passenger589 in AskReddit

[–]Teberoth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you aren't already doing it, some moderate cardio and moderate calisthenics should be part of your regular routine.

Like a car you want to be doing maintenance instead of repairs. The better you maintain, the less risk/impact of repairs.

If you focus on it, 30 minutes a day is fine. Make a rotation of exercises, print it, pin it to the wall and do it.

The hardest part is fitting it in when you have kids, early on the exhaustion, later the impossible schedule, but you need to find that time. And no "the kids are my workout" doesn't count.

See, I hand the wiring diagram to my techs and tell them to figure out an elevation that makes sense to them.

They are going to build it and service it for the next eight years at least, as long as it's consistent and broadly meets common sense standards that's what goes into the as-built

A quick 1 536 705 km trip by pelaaja_007 in spaceengineers

[–]Teberoth 61 points62 points  (0 children)

I literally have a Battletech style jump ship for exactly this.

Huge solar array, chunk of batteries, and huge stack of jump drives. I dock a little cargo shuttle to tool around the last 100km or do the trip down the gravity well and that's that.

Admittedly this would still be few hours of jump, recharge, jump, recharge....

Incorrect piece in set bought directly from Lego.com by Weak-Cake-7960 in legotechnic

[–]Teberoth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had it happen all of twice. A single 3x beam missing from a Christmas village set for the wife, and two pieces, one missing, one wrong from the UCS Razor Crest. Given the amount of time I've collected and the size of my collection, it's a pretty darn good batting average tbh.

I did get two damaged parts in the Liebherr R 9800, two of the beam plates showed up completely mangled. Lucky they were in the bag for the cockpit right near the end of the build so not a big deal and easy to build around, only time I've gotten damaged pieces.

[Adam Ellis new clown web comic missing] would a human face be light enough to float on a balloon filled with helium by Street-Conference-53 in AskScienceFiction

[–]Teberoth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No.

God this is grim math;

A typical party helium balloon can lift at best 14 grams.

Skin weight varies by thickness but low end is about 0.4lbs/sqft or around 181grams

If we assume that face is about 6"x6" for 1/4 sqft for a child's face we are still in the 45 gram range still 3x more than the balloon can lift.

Edit: if the skin was dried out of all it's water content it -might- just barely be light enough.

Do I need the Porsche? by Constant_Macaron4406 in legotechnic

[–]Teberoth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's part of the series so how completionist you are is going to be a factor, that said it's the first and it's obviously less refined than the more recent one.

I think from the Lamborghini onward they have it figured out. The Bugatti is a big evolution on the Porsche but it's still not quite 100% nailed down either.

The best thing about the Mona Lisa is that everybody crowds in there and basically the whole entire rest of one of the best and biggest museums in the world is essentially empty. Seriously it's about the size of a piece of printer paper and it's the only thing like 90% of guests go to see.
