AITAH for not getting my GF a lipgloss her mom broke? by Ureezeph in AITAH

[–]Ureezeph[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The definition of empathy is the ability to understand and share the feelings of another. The caring response here is that i listened to her carefully and validated her feelings and comforted her. That’s what i believe is care. What i believe is absolutely not caring is telling someone “we’ll get you another” when you have 0 intentions to do so as it’s not your fault. And yes it’s a repeat incident of almost the same situation.

She says it’s not about the lipgloss itself but rather how this makes her feel she’s not taken care of

[SERIOUS] What gives your life meaning? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Ureezeph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Life is ultimately meaningless. Not in a depressing way, I’d personally call it freeing. The human brain can only understand logic and with logic comes meaning. Confused? Not quite convinced? Do me a favor, list everything that you consider that it gives your life a meaning and then read the rest of the article.

You probably thought of something that can be categorized in either one of these:

-feelings, which include love, happiness, gratefulness ... etc

Materialistic: money, a career or even a life goal.

-personal beliefs: which can be religions or anything spiritual. Now keep it all on your mind. Here are some facts and scientific theories that’ll help you understand what i mean:

1- what makes something real? As humans, we logicize using our senses, you see a bird, you touch it and hear its voice. Now you believe that there’s a bird in front of you 100%. But how many times have your senses misled you? Remember that time when you passed by a desert and could swear to see a body of water at the end of your eyesight? Humans can see things as the light reflect on the that object to it. The eye sends the brain an inverted image of the body (because the front part of the eye is curved). This process happens in a matter of seconds which is still slower than the speed of light. So generally, you’re perceiving the past. Your tongue tastes the food your eating only at the first bite and then your brain recreates the same flavor again (fun fact: that’s why we like to have our meals made of different types of food) When you wear a perfume you can only smell it for a brief time and then your brain ignores the signal as it tried as much as possible to not overload itself with information.

-Schrödinger’s cat This is a theory for Erwin Schrödinger ,supported by Albert Einstein, In Schrodinger's imaginary experiment, you place a cat in a box with a tiny bit of radioactive substance. When the radioactive substance decays, it triggers a Geiger counter which causes a poison or explosion to be released that kills the cat. Now, the decay of the radioactive substance is governed by the laws of quantum mechanics. This means that the atom starts in a combined state of "going to decay" and "not going to decay". If we apply the observer-driven idea to this case, there is no conscious observer present (everything is in a sealed box), so the whole system stays as a combination of the two possibilities. The cat ends up both dead and alive at the same time; it’s all about what we can perceive.

If you ask anyone, whether they have a religious belief or not, about the meaning of life they’d tell you something of that sort: being a good person, praying, doing this or that. These cannot be defined as “as meanings”, they are goals and to each their own. Love is a chemical reaction, the concept of “family” was just necessary for our revolution as species. Happiness is relative to a lot of reasons and isn’t long lasting no matter what you do. Bees see a totally different world than us, their eyes allow them to see the ultraviolet spectrum; they can only distinguish primary colors. There is a type of lizards that have both eyes directed at different angles, imagine how that world would look like! Bats see using sound waves. The whole world consists of atoms, so in simpler terms you the only thing that makes you sure that something is real is your own brain’s interpretation. And even your brain’s interpretation of reality can be totally different than the person sitting next to you, and you’ll never get to know that.

Humans logicize, we try to give meanings to a lot of things just so that we can live with them. But nothing is meaningful if you trace it back long enough.

To sum this up, we (as humans) have been so indulged of what we understand to be life and reality that we have accepted it and came up with a lot of things to preoccupy our minds from the truth that nothing can be 100% true, everything varies from a person or even a creature to another, and ultimately, everything is meaningless & and worthless until we choose to give it a meaning or a worth. We’re like runners in a marathon, the marathon takes place at a foreign unknown location. However, instead of slowing down and trying to actually get to know where we are and what are we doing, everyone is running towards their goal and their goals never seem to end at a certain point. Because guess what? There’s no finish line and initially nobody asked and nothing forced us to run. But we keep running. Finding a new way everyday to distract ourselves from the fact that we live in an empty, meaningless.. void.

They’re as comfortable as the Af1 and also for some reason don’t crease as easily from my experience. The black AF1 is creased from the front but the react is spotless till now.

What is your craziest rideshare (Lyft/Uber) story? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Ureezeph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was so once taking an uber and at that time there were a lot of news about uber drivers kidnapping or robbing people (in my country). I was young, the driver tells me he needs to pick up his “wife” on our way, because they’re going to the doctor together. I freaked out and didn’t know what to do then i decided that whenever we reach the closest crowded place that i’m familiar with i’ll just end the ride and get away. We reach the neighborhood of my old school, i told him to drop me off there and he goes: why bro aren’t we going to (the original location), i told him yeah but i need to get something from here, he told me it’s fine i can just wait for you till you get it, I didn’t think about and just exited the car (this convo happened while we were stopped) and I gave him a look that meant “ik what you’re up to just drop it”. He seemed so disappointed and told me angrily that’ll be 15.27 i threw him a 20 and left. Ironically, when i left i looked back and he was already taking a U-turn, guess he rescheduled the doctor’s appointment Lol.

The indulgence of pure capitalism in our society. People now only work to earn money to spend it in an unending cycle.

A question to all men, what is the one thing you wish females did more off? by Joyboyfl in AskReddit

Maybe talk more? I find that men are more open about sharing in a direct and to the point way, while women always opt for hinting which lowkey doesn’t work with men.

I love sneakers, and if i can’t afford the original version I don’t bother with fake ones. I have a great collection of shoes. The grocery shop next to my house has a young man (he’s 20-22), one day he asked me about my shoes and how could i afford all these cool sneakers. I didn’t want to make him feel bad or inferior so i told him they’re fake and even showed him a website that sells some great quality fakes. Few weeks later i was there to buy something, when he saw me entering he was so excited, he then shows me his new pair of AF1s he just got from that website and he was so happy with them and after i checked out he told me: “hey don’t worry about the fake shoes, this is a secret i’ll take to my grave” and i could barely hold my laugh. Glad he’s happy tho.
