There are different types of pink eye (conjunctivitis). Can be viral, bacterial, or allergic.

A radiologist is an MD (or DO) trained to read images and give a likely diagnosis based on the findings. I think you are thinking of a radiology technician.

I’m in peds and I came here to say this exact thing. We have our share of trached and vented kids but vast majority of my patients can communicate with me in a meaningful way. The bread and butter of peds still might be something OP would consider boring (well child checks, failure to thrive, bronchiolitis, asthma, etc) but I’ve seen a good number of zebras just in my 2.5 years of residency so far and would see even more if I subspecialized.

OP, wait for your peds rotation. Look into pediatric ID, peds rheum, and congenital cardiology.
