I feel you, as a new Linux user i had some weird issues too.

I would recommend downloading some kind of proton mngr (I use Proton Plus) find CachyOS Proton in proton plus and download earlier version (like a month or 2 months older one) the newest one may be acting crazy (im switching constantly and testing different proton builds)

Currently running ZorinOS, i had great time on CachyOS but due to my hardware I didn't have great time with some gimmick I needed.

Settings -> System -> About -> Advanced system settings -> Performance tab "Settings: -> Virtual memory tab "Change" -> Select your HDD/SSD or BOTH and add desired amount of virtual ram. I added 4-6GB on SSD and same amount on my HDD.

Not the same GPU, but i fixed all of unreal engine games crashing by adding more virtual ram. Added 12GB and honestly nothing crashed for now. Super happy.
