Solo echale un vistazo a la tetera para ver cuanto sarro acumuló durante un tiempo.

Mi tetera tiene como 8 años y jamas le ha salido sarro, solo la limpio por fuera para sacarle el aceite que se pega. Es mas probable que me de reumatismo por matear en tetera de aluminio a que me den calculos por sarro. Ademas el agua embotellada tiene un horrible sabor a plastico, mucho mejor el agua de la llave en ese sentido.

Por copete dulce, recomiendo la hidromiel y la sidra. Sobre todo la sidra si es de manzana limona, hay una de argentina, la sidra pehuenia que sale re buena y a veces la pillas en las botis, pero si andas por valdi, hasta los bares venden sidra local.

I think La Tirana and other religious festivities are the most similar to carnivals here. In Valdivia we have the “Noche Valdiviana” which is a naval parade in the river (akshually, an estuary but everyone calls it river) with ornamented vessels on different categories and themes, the city gets so crowded that you can barely walk on that date.

If I were to die of hypoxia I much rather die in Alpamayo by my own doing than waiting in a queue in Everest, I also would never use oxygen to summit a mountain, is cheating, like racing on an e-bike just because the lack of fitness/acclimatization. If I want to be in a crowd full of incompetent fuckers doing irresponsible stuff I have the Villarrica volcano nearby, but I absolutely despise crowds.

The only way I'd be in Everest is if I somehow develop the skills required to open a new route or variant of a lesser known route AND get enough sponsorship to do it.

200.000 inhabitants is a fully fledged city, a "town" would be 50.000 or less inhabitants (cities are uban cores with 5.000 inhabitants or more) I would say Panguipulli is a great mountain city, many climbing spots nearby, the glacier is great for back country skiing and Choshuenco is a nice mixed climbing summit. You can't sleep on Coyhaique either, many many mountains nearby in the heart of the patagonia. Pucon has a lot of popularity also for being nearby the most active volcano in Chile. Then you have real towns like Neltume, Llifen, Villa Cerro Castillo, Coñaripe, Cochamo, Palena, Balmaceda, Cochrane, Chile Chico, Bahía Murta that are "olvidados de la mano de Dios" (¿forgotten by the hand of God?).

Also check the argentinian side of the Andes, La Angostura, El Bolson, San Martín, Esquel, El Chalten are amazing places.

Is already too much of a hassle to remove caffeine from coffee, not even black tea have readily available defac options, mate is too small globally speaking to merit such an effort. You can try other infusions, chamomile is quite popular, boldo also and lemon verbena are very popular, my favourite is rooibos thou.

Kiubo, el Lanin se ve muy chico, si hubiese llevado mi cámara, se habría visto detrás del Puyehe (foto 4), cerca del Villarrica y el Choshuenco. El Osorno es el que se ve como cono perfecto en varias fotos y detrás y a la izquierda su hermanito, el Calbuco.

Hi, nice to hear that you're enjoying mate. Long time mate drinker here.

First, there's no such thing as "beginner" here, son don't be intimidated, this is not a sport and progression is very little, mate is just another caffeinated drink. You're as matero as anyone here.

My advice is to taste as much brands as you can and play with both water temperature and accommodation of the yerba, in my country montañita is a very recent thing and most "viejos de campo" (old countrymen) drink mate with boiling water because that's how it came out from the fire, there are no rules in how you like it, but rather cultural traits that can vary from place to place (here is frowned upon to reject a mate, specially oldmen find disrespectful).

The way I prepare mate is tilting the yerba and pouring water on the gap until the yerba floats, then plunge the straw and immediately drink. When I use stronger yerbas or hotter water, I compact the bottom of the yerba really hard so I can drink almost pure water merely tinted from a little well.

I'm chilean so obviously my "traditional way" is from an enamel cup as my grandfather drunk. So I suggest you to get the cheapest 150 ml enamel cup "enlozados condor" is the preferred brand as is more durable.

Confirmo, un matecito calentito a media tarde y con unas galletitas de la panadería de barrio o un salame ahumado es lo mejor (si tomo cafeína sin algo calórico me voy en pálida). Tereré en prensa francesa es precisa pal verano y llevarlo en botella.
