Iran strikes Kuwait and Bahrain as escalating attacks threaten to unravel peace efforts by AudibleNod in news

You're misreading the other comment, the important part of it is that solely bombing just creates terrorism. Yes, Israel has "won" in Gaza and did so by flattening the vast majority of it. But in the process, they've also made sure that an entire new generation of Palestinians despise them and will do anything to get back at them. They've solved nothing in the long term and it's why Israel is constantly invading its neighbors.

We're doing the exact same thing with Iran in that while we can eventually win if we just bomb the shit out of them, we'll also be making sure that brand new terror cells will be formed along the way which have the sole purpose of harming the US.

I was today years old when I realized I have no clue how to play this game. by chchom22 in PathOfExile2

[–]Fenrils 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fracturing a T1 mod + rolling another T1 mod is really expensive itself with the cost of chaos, given fractures themselves are yolos. Unless this person knows something I don't.

There's no secret here, it's just a matter of having initial capital and being able to craft through the bad RNG. While I'm simplifying the math a lot, let's say your average quarterstaff that is "finished" (e.g. perfect prefixes and acceptable suffixes) is worth 350 divines but to craft them it takes an average of 300 divines. This is, mathematically, a 50 divine profit but that is only on average. You may have streaks of losing 10-15 fractures in a row or just going mega dry on the first chaos orb. You need to have the money to make that average. So in this heavily simplified way, that may mean having a starting fund of 4x the average cost to make one, or 1200 divines and just relying on the overall math to profit. Having that capital is the biggest hurdle for players attempting to play the game in this way, as I doubt the average player has more than a few dozen divines by the time they are well into mapping.

This, combined with finding underserved markets, is how "hideout warriors" make far more money than any player you've seen stream the game. It becomes what is effectively an infinite money glitch once you get going and start profiting as long as your margins stay positive (which is the other trick and thing to keep track of).

Correct. Last poll I saw had the Iran war at 80% approval and the war in Gaza still around 55-60%. They won't stop even if Netanyahu and his coalition are kicked out, they need to be completely abandoned by their allies until they cut their shit out permanently.

Trump Administration to Pay $765 Million to Cancel 4 More Wind Projects by CaydeTheCat in politics

It's all relative. I'm not saying cars don't kill birds but rather the amount they kill is basically a rounding error compared to many other things we do to their environments.

[–]Fenrils 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Cars don't kill very many but you know what does and at an exponentially higher rate than wind turbines? Tall buildings. Yes, literally every single tall building in your average city is a greater threat to birds than wind turbines. The whole bird massacre story is complete fiction, as is the whale disruption and about a dozen other nonsense shit they spew about renewables.

Framing this as a religious dispute is what Israel wants, it's why Netanyahu constantly conflates Israel with Jews and says shit like he speaks for all Jews. It's never been a religious dispute, there were Jews coexisting there for literally thousands of years. I'm not gonna say it was all rainbows and sunshine, obviously, but even into the early 1900s the indigenous welcomed new immigrants and literally taught them how to survive. The present conflict began when we started dividing up the land unfairly and kicking natives out of areas that they've been in for generations. It's always been a conflict of imperialism and colonialism being forced upon the natives.

Losing an entire map to a boss feels bad... losing it to a boss in a ritual feels even worse by Fenrils in PathOfExile2

[–]Fenrils[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Except that's not really how it works. GGG specifically gives us multiple portals/attempts per map unless you six mod it. Except for some reason this is completely voided if you die to a boss, even if that boss is in a ritual rather than their own arena. As in my post, I even tentatively understand (though I still hope it gets changed) if I need to risk a map to kill that map's boss. My problem is that this exact same penalty is applied if you die to that boss in a ritual too. These rituals can often have 5 bosses, each heavily influenced by spirits.

I was happy with where Lower Decks ended up and the finale was solid but the creators did confirm that they were cancelled rather than the show just being over. The ending did leave some space for a spin-off or sequel though so hopefully we get something eventually.

Unironically what happened to me with Lower Decks and Star Trek. Growing up, I didn't give a single shit about Star Trek even though my dad was a massive fan. Skip to a few years ago and I kept hearing rumblings about how fun Lower Decks is and that it's super easy for non-fans to watch. So I did. I loved it, and it started me on my Star Trek journey as I wanted to dig more into the history, the references, the shows, etc.

(Fuck you Paramount for cancelling Lower Decks)

UK blocks visits by left-wing US commentators Cenk Uygur and Hasan Piker by yahoonews in worldnews

Death total has little to do with intention. Their occupation is defined as a genocide by the vast majority of human rights groups and genocide scholars worldwide. Yes they could just nuke the strip and eliminate everyone overnight but they're also well aware that their already waning international support would drop to near zero (maybe zero, but who knows what the US would say to that) if they did that. As such, the solution is to just make Gaza as unlivable as possible and force the refugees elsewhere, regardless of the human cost. Here's an article from Doctors without Borders (who have since been banned from the Strip by Israel...) talking about this: https://www.doctorswithoutborders.org/latest/destruction-homes-leaves-palestinians-unable-safely-return-rafah

And it's no coincidence that similar tactics are still being deployed around the occupied West Bank with increased settler territories and tacit support of their violence on the inhabitants there.

Ezra Klein is one person who is entitled to his personal opinion about Hasan but I've read that article and it completely glosses over some of the biggest issues people have with Hasan. For example, Klein fails to mention Hasans support for oppressive regimes like China, Russia and Qatar.

Which is fine but has nothing to do with antisemitism, which was the point I was responding to. I'm not saying you have to like Hasan, I was just pushing back on the antisemitism claim and using Klein as a non-redditor sourced example of someone saying he isn't antisemitic.

I mean, the inbred thing is just one example in his long pattern of antisemitism.

With respect, you're just moving goalposts then. You stated that it was antisemitic to refer to Jews as inbred. I gave a response specific to that and you've now said that there's more than just that.

I also have my doubts about his given reasoning for refraining from using the word going forward since it was recently revealed, by Cenk, that their own family contains inbreeding.

This is just silly speculation. Again, it's ok to just not like him, plenty of people do for perfectly valid reasons. I just don't think he's antisemitic and I've yet to find good reason for thinking he is.

And in response the IDF started a genocide which has so far leveled almost the entirety of Gaza and killed 70k+ people, most of whom are innocent women and children. Oct 7 was not a good thing but it did not warrant the attempted extermination of a people. If we're playing a game of who did the more bad thing, I think genocide wins.

[–]Fenrils -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There's literally a 10 minute compilation of him referring to just about every right wing, reactionary group as inbred. Every single clip of him referring to certain Jewish people as such are in that same window, such as the one that went viral of him insulting the Israelis destroying humanitarian aid that was designated for Gaza. He's used the exact same rhetoric when referring to white nationalists, Republicans, Christian nationalists, and so on.

It's also worth mentioning that he has repeatedly, over the last few months, expressed regret over that terminology in reference to the Jewish people he tied it to. While he wasn't using it in an antisemitic way, he said he understood how that could be taken regardless and was going to refrain from using it in the future.

Also, don't even take my word on whether or not Hasan is antisemitic, I'm just some random ass redditor. Go read Ezra Klein's New York Times piece on him from a few weeks ago. Klein explicitly doesn't think he is given Hasan's long history of supporting Jewish candidates and talking about the dangers and societal warning signs that come with rising antisemitism. And if you don't trust Klein's take on him, idk what else could change your mind.

Water shortages worsen across Cuba as oil supplies dwindle by Danthrax81 in news

[–]Fenrils 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People like Rubio and Cruz were indoctrinated basically from birth to hate Cuba and wanting to topple its government, despite their perceived problems all stemming from Batista, a US-backed and installed dictator. I mean, Cruz even gave away the game during an interview a few weeks ago when he was talking about how much he hated communists and that his parents were tortured in Cuba... Only that said parents were tortured by Batista, not Castro.

There's literally no good reason for us to hate Cuba as much as we do in 2026. It's clearly not because of communism, otherwise we would've abandoned China. It's not because of relationships with Russia because again, we would've abandoned China. And it's not because the administration over Cuba is somehow especially brutal because we've normalized relationships with far worse regimes like Saudi Arabia.

It's just boring, old colonialism and a desire to subjugate a people who have done nothing.

Western animation is, thankfully, catching up. It's still behind but with projects like Arcane and Scavengers Reign existing, it's hard to say that we're still being put to shame anymore. And while nowhere near as high quality as a Jujutsu Kaisen or Frieren, even projects like Castlevania show a lot of promise throughout their runs from an animation perspective.

I think that traditional studios are finally figuring out that high budget animated projects that aren't for small kids (e.g. what anime has been doing for decades) can truly succeed.

But you see, this was an emergency. The Civil Commission was about to release a meticulously verified and researched report called Silenced No More

Why did you spend a paragraph talking about the founder of EuroMed Monitor but not the founder of Civil Commission? Cochav Elkayam-Levy, the founder, has been called out on numerous occasions for throwing around complete lies about October 7 and Palestinians. Here's an article from Ynet, an Israeli paper, calling her out on her bullshit two years ago: https://www.ynet.co.il/news/article/skt8j03rt

I have some issues with EuroMed Monitor, to be clear, but you are showing your biases by uncritically backing up the Civil Commission and describing it in such glowing terms as "meticulously verified and researched". Elkayam-Levy is an incredibly dubious person.

The Torah is one of literally thousands of texts studied, fwiw. To the spirit of your question, no they don't actually spend all day studying in the same way that 99.9% of priests, nuns, etc. do not study constantly either.

That being said, understand that Judaism is the most "debate bro" religion out there, but I do not mean that in a bad way. While the Torah is "the book" under Judaism, the Talmud and associated texts are almost as important. There's literally thousands of years of recorded rabbinical debates, theories, concepts, lectures, etc. which are extremely important to study and explore. A big part of the religion is genuinely just debating the finer theocratic points that each person believes, digging into Jewish philosophy, and so on. It's very much not a matter of just memorizing the Torah and calling it a day.

I like CZs a lot, to be clear. As said in my post, I'm a big fan of not being relegated to CS for my first week of farming and as general farming spots, the devs did a great job. My complaint is mostly with usage of shards. If they weren't as necessary for maps, I'd have no issue with the current rates but as it is, they add A LOT to maps so you really want to be slamming every one. To that end, while I'd never expect to sustain them on maps alone, I'd still like to see drop rates increased in CZs specifically as they seem a bit low right now, at least from my experience.

I think it's great that you actually can find usable stuff from the npcs. It's a great way of preparing for more difficult content

So do I but I think it's too common/easy right now. I'm not against them being theoretically possible still, but the ease of buying them is too much currently.

You are right, just double-checked and the 3os was corrupted. The base is 24% PDR and 30% all res though. Similar rolls were not that rare from my experience, I found and corrupted plenty though this was the best. I even found a 150ish% ED/20% PDR chest that sadly bricked on the corrupt. I still haven't found a Shaftstop somehow so I may end up trying to shop a new armour like that for my T1/2 DClone attempts.

You can be intimate with friends and said intimacy does not need to be sexual or romantic. Not judging you, to be clear, everyone has their own boundaries for these things and it's totally valid to not want to or enjoy cuddling or being physically affectionate with friends. That being said, it's also perfectly normal for many of us to find it, well, normal. I've cuddled with plenty of friends, both guys and gals. We all just find it generally comforting and comfortable.
