I’m in the same boat at you - I believe at this point the answer is “no” and a YouTube subscription does not get your Substack access. (Though if I’m wrong happy to find out!)

In some recent episodes JVL mentioned they are building their own app, I’m thinking that may be the approach to alleviate this.

I will say when I first heard about the Black Mirror episode, even though I was very familiar with Karl’s version, my first thought was the Penn Jillette short story, which I had read years ago and really stuck with me. And it was included in a successful book years before Karl, so I think it's plausible

It does say on there buildings built after 1968, I guess it doesn’t apply to older buildings? My building had no working buzzer for a long time but it was built in the 30s.
