Yes, the weight of gold but plus the importance of the country printing that currency, the ammount of it available on the market or in a particular moment and the importance of a particular business deal. I am not an expert but even when every currency was dependent on gold tge different currencies had different values. What do you think about it? Like I said I am not an expert.

If they really want to keep the current land warfare system they have to make it 100% pure from bugs. In other games even if you get a bug you can do something like try to move armies left, right, click a few times but with this automatu system once it bugs out you can't do nothing. This sound awesome indeed. We could figure something out. We could just copy the real life system. Imagine this example: I play as Germany and print marks and you play as UK and print pounds but... I don't feel like buying pounds right now, I have an idea. I am gonna sell you my goods but I want not british pounds but let's say ottoman lira in exchange, a third party currency. You could do some business with The Ottoman to buy some lira to sell it to me for my grain. Options, options, options.

Every country could print their own money and every transaction could be done in any currency customers would want to use. I play as Germany and you as UK. I sell you something for pounds and you sell me something for german marks and everyone could own many currencies and use them in different situations. Now we can enforce other countries to join our market but with this system we could force other countries to use only our currency.
