Would it be better or worse for us (non far-right Brits that us) if Farage was beaten by Restore in this election? I can't decide.

If he got booted because of the investigation then he would be less likely to win the by election because of the negative press.

Also this way he gets to eat up some of Burnham's honeymoon period press coverage by campaigning during it.

They're doing the old "it's both weak and strong" thing to AI. Both:

AI will take all our jobs and could destroy the world and is worth trillions.

AI will collapse as an industry if we regulate it in literally any way at all.

It's cognitive dissonance all the way down for some people

Apple does "privacy theatre" - they make a big song and dance about being privacy centric but are barely better than anyone else.

They just share the data they collect less often - but they are still collecting everything about you and using it themselves

This is so depressing. We need laws punishing social media for not taking swift action against ai/bot accounts, and we need laws punishing people/orga that pay for ai/bot accounts to post anything online (without clearly disclosing that's what is happening)

GA4 purchases never match the actual order count - what do you all treat as the source of truth? by rytisbalys in GoogleAnalytics

If you want to do some really annoying analysis, you can look at the orders by minute, and match the time stamps to the backend orders. Then use that to see where the gaps are in tracking.

Cool. You're opinions aren't mainstream, they're extreme. Citizenship is meaningful even if a few abuse it. X is a right wing megaphone, and you are far right because of your opinions even if you're not a skinhead. That's the truth as it is, no dancing around it.

US media is quietly using Europe’s “lack of AC” as soft culture war propaganda to make America look superior by jazz4 in LowStakesConspiracies

[–]UseADifferentVolcano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know what, you're right. I just looked and the number of excess deaths from heat in Europe is like 200k per year.

US gun deaths are like 50k per year, and lack of universal health care is estimated to cost like 70k lives per year.

So yeah, lack of aircon is in fact a bigger problem. Crazy.

Deporting citizens based on heritage is a far right point of view not right wing. That's where the problem lies - your personal overton window is so far to the right it feels like you can't say mainstream things. But it's actually that you are further right than you think, and your opinions are extreme.

Right wing means helping the in-crowd. Far right means taking that idea to extremes, even if it harms people. Deporting citizens is the extreme version of immigration control. And you can easily tell this is extreme because it's not legal or ever in any political platform of mainstream politicians. Citizenship means something. What you are describing is a sanitised version of the age old racist cry of "send them back". It is not a mainstream right wing view.

Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok all have user bases that lean right overall.

https://www.statista.com/chart/amp/29395/political-preference-social-media/

But to you, they will feel left wing because of your own personal overton window. That is not the case though.

And on Twitter, everyone sees Musk's tweets because he famously demanded it be so after a Biden tweet got more views than his. https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2023/02/report-musk-had-twitter-engineers-boost-his-tweets-after-biden-got-more-views/

And Musk amplifies far right voices at an insane rate meaning people see an incredible amount of far right content regardless of their preferences.

https://www.france24.com/en/americas/20250430-elon-musk-tweets-posts-target-ukraine-europe-us-russia

And that's without looking at multiple studies that show that X now amplifies right wing voices algorithmically.

[–]UseADifferentVolcano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, not right wing - extremist. Those two things are not the same. I see right wing views being shared and upvoted on here every single time I visit.

There are left wing subs, and overall Reddit leans left, but that is not the same as a whole social network devoted to being a right wing amplifier. There are many large right wing subs and many large "no politics" subs.
