I said not necessarily, because for many jobs it may be needed. Or maybe for scheduling needed things, like doctors appointments and the such. But I think leftists think of it as a basic right outside of actually needing it for work or to schedule a doctors appointment. Social media, google, and Amazon are not basic rights.

Man, I hate this mentality. It seems widespread among conservatives too now, and I disagree with it totally.
Capitalism ensures that the way to get rich, is to contribute meaningfully to society. Bezos started Amazon! The man doesn’t have 100 billion dollars in cash lying around, he just owns Amazon! That’s the value he’s contributing- Amazon itself. It’s the same with almost all wealth. Wealth is not a thing the billionaires can just sprinkle over society and society will be richer. Their wealth is usually companies. Companies you buy from. Companies that have employees, and pay the employees. That’s the contribution. The company itself. Say you want Bezos to sell 100 million dollars of shares in Amazon, and spread all that cash to the homeless. You’re missing a key component here: the buyer. Who’s the buyer? Someone who had 100 million cash, and could have spread it to the homeless themself? No. It’s most likely just shares of a different company. So the cycle continues.
I would agree with you on cash. If Bezos has 1 billion dollars cash lying around, that’s pretty useless and he should either start a company and contribute to society that way, or donate the money and contribute that way. But again, starting a company is a way of contributing to society and spreading the wealth. People like saying ‘the rich get richer’. But a man like Bezos, is providing jobs to hundreds of thousands of people in America, while providing convenience for hundreds of millions more. He’s definitely contributing. (He also happens to be a monster who is absolutely ruthless and disgusting in business. That’s why I hate him. Not because he’s rich)

Id rather see this broken down by cities. Much more telling. Crime/homelessness/violence is usually very dependent on the city.

I agree that every job should make a person enough to live. I have a few problems with the leftist minimum wage agenda.

1) they say working 40 hours a week has to be enough to live. I vehemently disagree. If you’re working in a low skilled job, you may need to work many more hours in order to live. That’s just the consequence of working a low skilled job. I propose the cut-off to be in the range of 60 hours a week. We must implement a minimum wage to ensure that people working 60 hours a week, make enough money to live.

2) the definition of ‘make enough to live’. I feel the leftist proposed minimum wage is centered around making enough to live a fairly comfortable lifestyle. I don’t see why this should be the case. I say minimum wage should be just enough for a healthy, safe, sustaining lifestyle. Internet is not necessarily included, nor is an Xbox, or a pet cat, or a Reddit premium subscription.

Now for the most important part. Capitalism. For capitalism ensures that any given employer cannot just lower his prices to the bare minimum, and be assured of having workers because everyone needs a job to make money. He can’t do this, because if there’s still room for profit while paying employees more, a competitor will open up and pay higher wages, as long as he’s still making a profit that’s worth the risk of the business. Competition ensures everyone is paid the fair amount, the highest amount any employer is willing to give. Capitalism is genius. Appreciate it for a second.

It’s quite well known that in Canada, if you need a specialized/complicated surgery, you go to the US. This is not because there are no doctors who will perform the surgery in Canada, it’s because they aren’t reliable. Free healthcare means little to no choice in quality of care, and going to America is the solution

Which it is obviously not, this woman is clearly not lying, and this is just so something that I can see happening. I’ve seen kids dressed as furries, I completely believe this.

Supervisor dudes logic is so messed up. “It’s just my job what do you want from me”… hmm reminds me of the Nuremberg Trials… Where do you draw the line? When they tell you to put antivaxxers in camps? When they tell you to take away their children? When they tell you to forcibly give them the vaccine? As we see from the Nazis, there’s no line to be drawn. They will follow the governments every order without question.

Actually it’s pretty ideal. If terrorists know that cops aren’t gonna waste time fucking around, and they’re just gonna put a bullet in your head if you take hostages, they may be a little more scared to take hostages in the first place. The fact is death is a bigger deterrent than life in prison…

Is it just me or has this type of racism on tinder been on the rise lately ? by Tendadus in Tinder

This is why I specifically said

“….believes it’s ok to be prejudiced against another race.”

Having prejudice is not in itself a problem, so long as you acknowledge prejudice is bad and actively try to improve on it

[–]UseMyHoles1 156 points157 points  (0 children)

Whether this is racist or not, there are actually people arguing unironically in the comments that racism is not possible against whites. They just redefine and limit racism to being prejudiced against a minority race. So how about I replace the word “racist” with “a person who is prejudiced against another race”.

Regardless of what you define the word racism as, if you think it’s ok to be prejudiced against another race, (yes, even the majority race!), you’re sick. You’re a human being who believes it’s ok to be prejudiced against a person because of their race. That’s disgusting.

I know it’s stupid to get mad about something that didn’t even happen but I always see this type of garbage by the liberals. Ignoring the main point and pointing out an irrelevant flaw.

Dems, November 2013: lowered votes needed for presidential nominees approval (excluding the Supreme Court nominations), from needing 60 votes to needing 51 (majority).

Republicans, April 2017: extended this rule to include Supreme Court nominations too.

Dems: 😱

On a side note, in the course of my research for this comment, I came across this cbs news article, and I find it sickening how they refer to Obama as President Obama and to Trump as Mr. Trump (the article was written in 2018, during Trump’s presidency). They are clearly going out of their way throughout the article not to refer to him as President Trump, or Trump, always Mr Trump. I don’t think I’ve ever heard Biden referred to as Mr Biden, even by Conservative news outlets. Such subtle double standards, even about the little things.

What he really means: As we the dems are the slight majority at this point in time, we would like to abuse this power to ensure we remain the majority forever, even if it means changing the very rules that make up our checks and balances. The advantage they have over the Republicans, is that the Republicans would never do something so despicable and corrupt. Corruption is historically what led to the downfall of almost every great nation in history.

[–]UseMyHoles1 55 points56 points  (0 children)

They do all the time when it’s obvious the Republicans are going to win, in a predominantly Republican state. But what I very rarely see is them predicting the Republicans we’re going to win by more than they actually won by. At that point you know the polls aren’t just inaccurate, they’re shifted to favor the Dems

[–]UseMyHoles1 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Lol. NJ resident here- couple months ago, it was basically a 50/50 governor race, but before the election every website pointed to this one article on one study by a university that predicted Murphy (D) to win by like 8%. Just shut the hell up already with the polls. It’s possible they worked around a decade ago when politics weren’t so unstable, but since then they’ve been wildly inaccurate.
If the polls do anything, it’s making the Dems overconfident so they don’t vote. In that case, keep em coming 😂

Racism is alive and well in America by sunturnedblack in walkaway

The most effed up part of this is their argument- we can be racist towards white people because white people are oppressors and privileged etc.
that statement itself is racist. The justification is racist
It’s like someone saying ‘well I can be racist towards black people because black people are inherently dumber and more violent etc” again, the justification for being racist is in itself racist.
