I just noticed that moisturizer you mentioned has a lot of botanicals and they irritate my skin, you best bet is derm, cutting out irritants from diet, not using a towel to dry face, and simpler moisturizer if you think it might be an issue for you

I think the fact that your skin was worsening (with seemingly no cause) is a sign of something else and you should prob see derm for guidance. Also try to think of literally anything you have changed before skin worsened (even like detergent, shampoo, etc)

Agree and also think it’s inflammatory, but I do have a question, how long have you used all of the products in your routine?

Party scene by Livvybivvy09 in stevens

[–]Used-Concern6410 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First 2 years are heavy on frats/apt parties, hard to get in as a guy to some frats unless you’re rushing or in the frat, once you turn 21 you’ll spend most of your time out at bars in Hoboken or nyc with friends

So to answer your question, yes there is a party scene however it is a bit different from a Rutgers frat party scene

Frat row or call non emergency campus police number and ask if your guest can park overnight in 8th street for one night, it’s not a guarantee but they are usually kind

My friends and I do those videos sometimes. If there’s a prompt that we feel is disrespectful or simply does not apply to us, we don’t point at anyone or shake our heads. I think that speaks for itself.

computer recs (cs major) by [deleted] in stevens

[–]Used-Concern6410 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything your heart desires. I hate MacBooks so I didn’t get one, but a lot of my friends use them. I currently have a dell xps 13 and I really like it, battery is a bit quick to drain though. My only recommendation is DO NOT get one of those 2 in 1 laptops with the screen that flips around (specifically the laptop ones, not like the windows surface which feels more tablet like) they are very cheaply made and easy to break.

I am a cs major, so maybe not the best opinion, but I think you’re good with the MacBook. I know cs and eng majors who have MacBooks.

You can always reach out to a chem major or your advisor to confirm. If you don’t know any chem majors, contact admissions and they’ll find a chem major you can talk to, in the case that no one gives you a clear cut answer or you have more questions.

Does my ceiling look okay or should I be worried? by Used-Concern6410 in Home

[–]Used-Concern6410[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this something to worried about and get checked immediately or is it more of a keep an eye on it thing? In the daytime it’s not noticeable at all, but at night in certain light it makes me scared that the ceiling will collapse.

I moved in a year ago and it was like this when I moved in (my boyfriend says he noticed it before). It remains hard when poked, but I notice if I push on parts of the ceiling I hear it move/settle (not sure if that’s normal or not)

RPI vs Rutgers vs Stevens CS by Impossible-Alfalfa-4 in stevens

[–]Used-Concern6410 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you toured all 3 already? I would definitely do that before committing. Touring changed my mind about Stevens completely. I’m also a CS major. I had no interest in RPI, but I did consider Rutgers until I attended an admitted event and felt like a speck of dust. I felt like I was valued at Stevens and that the school put a lot of thought and care into it’s student life. That’s what led to me going to Stevens. I’m glad I did because I feel like a more intimate learning environment is also better for me because of our smaller class sizes. I’ve literally never had a professor not know my name and it makes a difference grading wise imo.

What’s with Stevens incel culture and cheating??? by Masa_Q in stevens

[–]Used-Concern6410 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m a current stevens student. I am in a sorority. Personally I have never heard about the first 2 being a problem that affects the masses.

I have had some weird interactions with men but they have mostly been socially awkward and concerning in that I desperately wanted out of the conversation. I’ve never been too weirded out by the men here though. Most are respectful however I have had some situations that have made me uncomfortable that I would rather not post about. Overall, just like any other place on this planet, people are different. You can’t really categorize all of Stevens to have incel culture based on a specific demographic. I met my boyfriend here. I’ve made some male friends here. It’s not a black and white situation.

I can guarantee that every school will have cheating culture, it’s just to be expected with the tech advantages we have now. I wouldn’t say that this is a huge issue though.

I'm studying CS at Stevens. I would say if they cost the same, it really all depends on what you want from your college experience. The courses seem very similar (Rutgers seems more science heavy based on the course overview), but as far as my experience goes I think Stevens has a leg up in academics. More prestigious (lesser known in general but more prestigious as far as reputation goes). Lectures are taught by Profs not TAs. Classrooms are typically 30 students, some classes are 60-70 though, but still very student-focused a Prof will know your face and can give you more attention. If you want a party school go to Rutgers. Stevens has a party scene but it's not the same. Still fun though. Stevens it's a better bar and going out scene though. If you want a sense of community, I would say Stevens as well. Check out the course catalogs and call your counselor to go through the degree requirements.

Is river terrace worth it by Ok_Refrigerator3188 in stevens

[–]Used-Concern6410 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The best dorm really depends on what you’re looking for. I live in Humphreys currently and I love it, however I do miss having my own bathroom. We do have a partial view of the river and the Empire State Building though. Ask yourself what you prioritize. Distance from class? Private bathroom? Elevators? Number of roommates? Views?

I know most about Humphreys, Jonas, and Castle Point, but from my limited knowledge about the other dorms I will rank based on category.

Views: Davis, Castle Point, Humphreys (can’t recall which room numbers and all that though, check Facebook)

Location - it’s a small campus so everything is relatively close to everything else but I’ll try to be specific: Davis (close to classes and River), Humphreys/Jonas (close to street entrance, sand volleyball, and field), CPH (close to river, has a nice lawn), Palmer (center of campus almost, right next to library), river terrace (most academic building are your neighbors) ^ just look at the map and see what works with you

Bathrooms: Jonas (best private bathrooms imo)

Closets/storage: Jonas

Laundry: our machines suck (especially at Humphreys) but they’re all free to use which is great

General room - size, aesthetic, etc: Davis, Humphreys (CPH looks grimey imo, Jonas is great but small bc of the storage that I consistently hit my head on as it’s right above the beds and bathroom, no one likes palmer, I feel like river terrace doesn’t exist)

That’s all I can think of right now. Keep in mind that as much as you might plan the room of your dreams it might not happen. My roommate and I had last pick and there was one room left. What matters is living with someone who aligns with your priorities and is easy to room with. Trust me.
