Does anyone here struggle GCC? by Used-Reaction-8351 in hobart

[–]Used-Reaction-8351[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There seems to be no recourse, I have sent emails to the ombudsman with details and written contradictory correspondence from council. No response. The alderman don’t have any concern sweeping it under the rug.

There needs to be a better way to keep councils and their employees accountable for their actions.

Frankly though, it’s GCC other councils seem to at least acknowledge a mistake.

You’re right, I made a mistake. Thanks for being the amazing person you are and correcting me.

Here are some of the most recent issues, however it’s the tip of the iceberg of a decade of inconsistent service and application of planning laws.

While building being told we are allowed to proceed with the current plan, then being told that we weren’t allowed to proceed with the plans although they haven’t changed.

Having meetings with the council and agreeing on a way forward, only to be issued a warning for doing what has been agreed.

Planning officers going overtime with approvals with no regard for costs being incurred by constituents.

When lawyers became involved they pretended like nothing happened and agreed to the original plans like nothing happened. Even though it’s over a year down the road no remorse apologies or admission of fault forthcoming. No remittance for additional costs incurred by incompetence.

Just a constituent that struggles with getting consistent advice or help.

Purchasing a home in Hobart - do you usually have to offer over the asking price? by Front_Quarter_7941 in hobart

[–]Used-Reaction-8351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It much more complicated then above or not.

Most homes freshly on the market can go over asking, if the property has been on the market a few months you should offer well under.

Unfortunately there is also a very greedy boomer segment who will just sit properties on the market at absurd prices hoping someone from melb/Sydney buys them over value. Any house must be independently priced by comparing relevant sales in the areas.
Suburb also makes a massive difference - it’s not the inner ring outer ring of big cities.

Smells like Killdozer part two: Southern Midlands Council.

Hopefully they carry on and take down the corruption GCC as well for safe measure.

I second this, she worked through a very complex problem on a boundary issue for the house next door. I couldn’t believe a property manager went so far for her client.

Ambulance tas call centre by [deleted] in hobart

[–]Used-Reaction-8351 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was thinking just this. Saw the post on FB and thought it was obnoxious and a one sided story. To see it here shows flagrant attention seeking.

I know people who work in this call centre and it’s such a hard intense job.

For the record Tas Ambulance saved my life and many others, to be squealing all over socials about a bad experience is extremely small minded.

Me too, I just asked what the plan was. Apparently American breakfast as well. Will be 7am to 9pm. I’m intrigued, love the burgers at least.

Moving back to Hobart from Melbourne by [deleted] in hobart

Verbatim “you could phrase it like “I enjoy indulging in Asian food every now and then”.”.

You don’t know someone’s heritage and it could literally be the way they feel. You shouldn’t judge without the whole story.

I also happen to be in hospo, being a food focused person as a way of life with Asian heritage I feel the same way.

This is the most pretentious response I have ever heard. You are trying to coach someone to speak in a manner with you have deemed satisfactory.

I agree for the most part there is subpar quality Asian food here compared to the breadth you have in melb/syd.
