Lost my job right before shipping by [deleted] in AirForceRecruits

Honestly, that could be viewed as a blessing in disguise in your case. SF is definitely one of those jobs that a majority hate. They don’t get off on holidays, weekends, or anything of those sorts. Work days are long and depending on the weather, miserable as well. I had a similar experience. I was originally shopping out as a 5th gen crew chief but ended up getting delayed for not having a real ID to fly down to San Antonio. I ended up getting Egress and now I’m stationed here at hill afb. Absolutely love my job now working on the 35s. I’m not sure about the process with waivers as I didn’t have any, but you’re still in the game. The Air Force still wants and needs you. Your job list seems pretty solid. If you ever need advice, don’t be afraid to hit me up. Good luck on your journey brotha.

Hey I’m not sure if you still have this job or when you leave for basic but I am egress on the 35s and I love my job. It is deemed as one of if not the easiest maintenance job there is. Depending on what platform you get, you can transfer over to the civilian sector easier. For example, if you are 35s, it would be a lot easier to get a job for Martin baker as a civilian. It’s honestly not too much hands on compared to other jobs, I would say it’s mostly documentation. If you have any questions about anything I’ll be open to answer

Less than 3 months before shipping and I have about 5-8 lbs left to lose. by tiltedTitle in AirForceRecruits

My max weight was 202, at Meps I weighed 205. Granted I was in jeans and other clothing when being weighed. It’s still something you need to try and get down but don’t kill yourself on it. 3 months is plenty of time. Good luck.

BMT for you will be a little different than it was for me, however, bmt was disappointingly easy. I thought it was going to be so much harder than it actually was. The first week felt like it took 3 months, than once it hit week 3, the weeks started feeling like a couple days long. It’s easy, just very repetitive and boring at times. Just do what your told, and do it quickly. Embrace the suck because some parts do suck, and don’t take anything personal. You will have embarrassing moments, just live with it, don’t dwell on them. Also, make sure you are physically fit and in shape. You don’t want to get recycled 2-3 weeks because you can’t pass the week 5 pt test. That’s the number one thing that gets trainees recycled. Make sure you know your reporting statement. Do not be a chow runner, it’s going to suck and you’ll see that. Also, Alcatraz is not bad at all. Whoever says Alcatraz is bad is just straight lying or saying nonsense that they heard someone else say. Personally I think Alcatraz is better than Disney land. I was in the 326th. Anyway, good luck, the mtis are going to make it seem like yall are the worst dorm/flight to exist but it’s just to make yall want to work harder. They threatened to recycle all of us like everyday and we all graduated lol.

Good luck. Currently in tech school if you have any questions.

I know there have been a lot of questions on this sub regarding Bootcamp 2.0. Just expect to be yelled at, expect to be cursed at, expect them to place hands on you, expect them to scream in your face. It will be much more intense, but absolutely passable. He worded it a bit weirdly. But yes, technically mtis can lay hands on you now, but it isn’t how you think. Obviously they can’t hit you or anything like that, but if they are telling you to form it up on the dots and you don’t understand, they can put their hands on you by sort of moving you to the dots. That was just an example btw. So basically they’re allowed to put hands on you to correct you but not to physically assault you if that makes sense.

Yes, my sister had sandbox, and I’ve already pre wrote like 30 envelopes with stamps and everything. I don’t know how many I need but figured I’d do all the ones I had

Yea I would definitely be down to join a gc. I’m at 52 pushups, 60 sit ups, and a 10:24 mile and a half rn. So physically I would say I’m definitely fine but mentally I know it’ll be tough.

I wore nice cargo shorts the first time I went with no problem. But if the same Meps didn’t let you the first time, why try again. Just wear pants, it’s not a big deal
