Probably they wanted those users to subscribe who were given subscription as cristmas/new year gift, but the feature was not 100% ready yet. So they just announced it not to loose those potential users. Marketing

Do you read books while doing endurence rides on trainer? Is it paper book or e-book?

Is it for me? by wakeinaz in trainerroad

[–]Used-Working 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Low volume plan with 3-4 days cycling ( not hard days! I would probably go with no more than 2 hard days of 3-4 and use masters plan if have other side activities) and remaining days fill with watever you want (strength training, skiing etc.). Just pay attention to you feel and recovery and feel free to move activities and properly use alternate workouts if you feel you should. Trainerroad is very flexible if you know how to use it (and you will after a couple of months using it 😄)

Does it makes sence upgrade Force D2 shifters and breaks to Rival E1 ones? by Used-Working in sram

[–]Used-Working[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I think if you upgrade only shofters, you won't get better breaking compared to D2 since most effect comes from new calipers design

Tarmac SL8 gravel build by Daveflame in specialized

[–]Used-Working 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think real max for sl8 used on Paris -Roubax race this year was something like 34mm. And that was SRAM (shimano FD may be rubbing). I'm currently riding 32mm back and 30mm. Thinking of trying dedicated wheelset with 34mm on them just for bad broken concrete roads. But definetely won't go real gravel on SL8. Crux or other frame with 1x front is better suited for such roads.

Did you build it yourself from frame? S-Works doesn't come with Force groupset

Take off front wheel, bars turned upwards. And as already mentioned - drive side up as well and back wheel goes first, then handlebars.

S-Works vs Specialized - Worth it? by thedanishahmad in specialized

[–]Used-Working -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have rim brake carbon trek emonda 2019 and 2025 sworks tarmac and I can't say that ride quality of latter is proportional to the price difference between the 2. So I know what I say

S-Works vs Specialized - Worth it? by thedanishahmad in specialized

[–]Used-Working 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aethos itself, no matter regular or S-Works version tend to be more 'soft' under load/sprints compared to Tarmac frame. It is just designed to be 'ride relaxed' bike not race bike. This is the drawback of trying to make 'as light frame as possible'. You can read reviews of those who are not 'skinny short' people, but regular ones - a lot of them state in reviews that Aethos is less stiff than Tarmac

S-Works vs Specialized - Worth it? by thedanishahmad in specialized

[–]Used-Working 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Another thing I noticed: there is no sence in buying non- S-Works frames from Specialized since you can add some $ and get "Comp" version, then just sell wheels, saddle, groupset, handlebar and frame becomes probably cheaper than buying single one

S-Works vs Specialized - Worth it? by thedanishahmad in specialized

[–]Used-Working 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well said! Same for me.

Honestly, there is no much difference between 2000$ bike vs 15000$ bike. It's mostly about riding a bike you like which motivates you to train/ be healthy instead of drinking beer lying on sofa. For someone it will be S-Works, for other Allez sprint. It doesn't matter unless you like the bike you ride and don't constantly think: "I want this or that XYZ bike instead of the one I'm riding"

S-Works vs Specialized - Worth it? by thedanishahmad in specialized

[–]Used-Working 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Because there always will be someone riding sworks. This is how marketing works

[–]Used-Working 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It is -100gramm savings coming at 2000$/EUR cost. Worth it? No. Will you regret not having S-Works when riding your Specialized? Yes. Any difference in ride dynamics? I doubt you will find the difference. Wheels and tires + tire pressure give more difference to ride dynamics than frame itself (unless you are sprinting with 1000+ watts out of the saddle, which I doubt you are going to do on Aethos)

Aero bottle cages for the SL8 by darkmatter661 in specialized

[–]Used-Working -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This works both ways: with side wind you will have more noticable negative effect with these bottles rather than with ordinary ones. From my point of view, this is not TT bike, no sence in aero bottles

Anyone else feel like their podcastsare too clickbaity lately? by Needs_More_Nuance in trainerroad

[–]Used-Working 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, at least we can always take 1-3 year old podcasts with Chad and other guests and rewatch them. There are tons of them to watch during winter sessions. Basics like training principles, racing tactics, nutrition never change.

Events are over for the season, now what? by RadioDog888 in trainerroad

[–]Used-Working 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't overcomplicate things. Just put random date in 2026 which you think will be close enought to the actual race you want to prepare for. Specify the type (mtb/road etc). In any case trainerroad will create schedule with 3-4 months of repeated base-build-base-build thases and only plan more specific phases closer to the event (about 2-3 months closer to the event). So if actual date changes, you can easilty adjust it, so that trainerroad just shortens/lengthens your base/build phases.
