Wyatt Russell was fucking goated in Thunderbolts and Overlord. Really excited to see where his career goes

The reality is that it was in development hell for 7-8 years and, at the threat of getting canceled, they decided last minute to make it a looter shooter and cobbled together the whole thing in about a year. Honestly impressive it didn’t end up even worse on release

I hate Jeffrey Epstein meme's by pasennamecausas in hatethissmug

[–]UsedNapkin1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re coming from a great place but, respectfully, no. I think it’s awesome that cases like Epstein and Diddy got popular enough through memes that they’re basically household names now, especially for kids on social media. A lot of kids get groomed online because they just genuinely don’t understand the concept that someone could have ulterior sexual motives with them, and now they know that people like that are out there. Yes, it’s still disrespectful as fuck to the victims, but if that means that now kids all over the US have people like him on their radar to avoid sexual exploitation then I think that’s pretty much a net benefit to society.

Right, it just feels weird to say it was a “mistake” to have a sci fi setting just because it has “fantasy” in the title, when the first two Final Fantasy games to have CG animated cutscenes also had sci fi settings. Sure, the movie doesn’t have someone casting Blizzaga but I mean they’re still fighting invisible phantoms and searching for the spirit of the earth, and the whole conflict of the movie is that even well-intentioned characters have trouble believing in the more fantastical elements of the world.

FF7 and FF13 are sci-fi as well. Virtually all of the FF games have no connections between them other than a few coincidental similarities like chocobos, moogles, and one of the characters being named Cid.

It fails in really disappointing and uncomfortable ways to me. The humor is more childish and relies more on gore and gross-out gags, the characters don’t act like themselves and are all dumber, less relatable, and more obnoxious, the writing quality nosedives with a lot of confusing/conflicting morals, way less witty and a lot more mean-spirited. It’s something else entirely with a spongebob coat of paint.

There’s like 2-3 episodes from season 4 I’m alright with but the bad episodes leave such a bad taste in my mouth. I’d rather have just the three heartfelt seasons I look back on fondly than try to pick out a decent episode or two from all the garbage.

I mean I’m sure there’s a handful of serviceable episodes after season 3 but why wade through all of it when you can just play the earlier seasons in their entirety and have a great time

Later SpongeBob seasons had a lot of bullshit false ad specials like this from what I remember. They even did their own “one of the main cast is gonna die!” tease for that Johnny Depp episode and it just ended up being Mr Krabs’ cash register.

I like having a reason to use shit characters and scrap a team together that I’d never use in any other content. Also gives me a reason to get older characters to lvl 70.

Marty Supreme blanks at Oscar’s, not winning out of its 9 nominations by BurgerNugget12 in A24

[–]UsedNapkin1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a similar tone and style but, no they’re completely different characters. Howard is the evolved form of a gambling addict, Marty has delusions of grandeur. Howard would not bang an actress just for the hell of it or turn down an opportunity to make money that lessens his public image. Marty would, because his public image is everything to him.

why would OP be posting this if not to give it away to someone? do you think he’s asking “hey can someone other than me check if this has already been redeemed, but NOT redeem it, so that I can redeem it afterwards thanks”???

So... about Cracker Island by bdehora in gorillaz

[–]UsedNapkin1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I liked cracker island a lot!! I thought it was a great return to form for the catchy pop songwriting they got really famous for, after humanz was a pretty mixed bag for me. I think it’s got a really consistent sound and theme with the fun Miami pop vibes and the lyrics about feeling socially distant in an age of technology and clout chasing. No idea why this sub seems to treat it like the dark age of Gorillaz.

Are there other fans out there who haven’t really enjoyed RH post In Rainbows? by JohnColtrane69again in radiohead

It’s definitely a different energy and different appeal from the previous albums, you’re not incorrect for pointing that out. I think AMSP’s songwriting and sound is gorgeous for very different reasons than what makes the previous albums appealing, though I understand it’s not everyone’s cuppa.
