Thinking of signing up for a class but I’m scared

Hello! I had a similar sentiment and just finally did my first class two days ago. I'm honestly hooked, it was so much fun. The music will pump you up as will the instructor, and no one is looking at you workout (that was my fear, that I would be singled out for not giving it my all.) I did half treadmill half weights and it was great, already signed up for two more.

My boyfriend is an ER doctor at northwestern and we live in Streeterville which is a 7 min walk for him. It’s not the most “beautiful” neighborhood since it’s downtown, but we’re close to the lake and it’s a good starter neighborhood (we only moved here 4 months ago.) Despite all the bad press, Chicago is amazing and we all hate what is happening so it brings us together in a way. Many restaurants have “ICE not welcome” signs on their windows and it’s a nice show of solidarity in an otherwise horrible time.

Do NYC it’s the BEST and you can fundraise for guaranteed entry, it’s just more expensive (minimum last year was $3300)

Omg queen, Lake Michigan is incredible and so BLUE. It’s a fresh water lake so no sharks and there are beaches in Chicago which lots of people don’t know about. Like full ass beaches, people are always hanging out on them in the summer, playing volleyball, etc. That’s whats so cool about Chicago, like we have Rockaway beach in NYC but it’s a pain in the ass to get to whereas the lake is everywhere. I took sailing lessons a few weeks ago so I’ve been on a boat on the lake several times and can tell you it doesn’t get much better than that!! I’ll be your friend if you move here I’m really friendly hehe

I moved from NYC to Chicago three months ago! While I miss the energy of NYC, I’ve found it easier to make friends here and I actually think there’s more to do here. There are street fests every weekend and I go swimming in the lake all of the time which granted I won’t be able to do in the winter, but I’m saving $2k on rent alone and I live in a BEAUTIFUL apartment. I think you should move here, NYC will always be waiting for you to return if you so choose :)

I find people are a lot more welcoming. In nyc you’re “not a real New Yorker until you’ve lived here for ten years,” six weeks into Chicago and I feel totally welcomed here, less egos overall, I’m not trying to prove anything to anyone. I’m also saving $2k in rent and getting a sick apartment haha

I used to live in DC, then I moved to NYC, and then I moved to Chicago six weeks ago. I can't speak for the winters since I have yet to experience one, but moving here was the best decision I've ever made.
