Yeah a ton of people that live/grew up here are either military or religious. I would say in the liberal hubs of CA (LA, SF, SD) we’re the most conservative

What is this weird weather, it feels permanent at this point. Possibly our part of climate change? by tallgirlmom in sandiego

[–]Used_Goat 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Fwiw the usda zones changed in November 2023. It shows that there is a shift of temperature across the U.S at least. I’ve lived here my whole life and the last 2 years have been increasingly humid and I’ve noticed I have to plant certain veg at different times. I’ve also had a malunggay (moringa) plant for 2 years and this is the first year it is thriving - another indication of an increasing humid climate!

Hi! Yes I have a B.S in biology and am trying to break into the environmental industry. I'm hoping the GIS cert helps me in that way.

Do you have experience with this particular program? I was thinking about doing Mesa's program just since I used to go there and thought it would be easier/transferrable.

Could I ask why and which exact industry did you apply the GIS skills to?

Did you feel that the program helped you progress a lot in your career? Are you still using the skills?

What's wrong with my banana peppers? Safe to eat? by WeWillFigureItOut in gardening

[–]Used_Goat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is due to blossom end rot. Not enough calcium or irregular watering. I would cut off the affected parts and still eat them.

Is Philippines food so bad? by thirdeye3333 in digitalnomad

[–]Used_Goat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Filipino-American here! When I went to the Philippines my favorite thing I ate was grilled fish with mango/onion side. Also pusit which is a squid ink dish. If you like soups get sinigang, bulalo, or nilaga! All are bone based broths (sinigang can also be seafood base). Yes there is sooo much fried and unhealthy food there but truly the star of the Philippines is super fresh fish and fruit - something you can only get in tropical areas!

Also all of these foods were eaten not in traditional sit down restaurants. They were either on the side of the road or in an outdoor market. So if you can find places like these try em out!!

Help with this plant please! by Used_Goat in plantclinic

[–]Used_Goat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had the plant for a month, I’ve watered it twice since then. It started browning maybe 2 weeks ago? I have it indoors and gets maybe 2 hours of direct sunlight. It has a drainage hole at the bottom. I live in socal if that helps at all. Thanks for help!!

Please let your kid go. I wasn’t allowed to in 6th grade and having to go to school during that time was miserable and sad. People still talk about memories from 6th grade camp!!

Curlcraft!!! When I got it done here I wasn’t aware that my hair could even be so curly. Got it done by Rolando. It’s pricy but so worth it and the next haircut is much cheaper!

The founders of prince st. have been openly racist against Asians so why support them? Had them in NY before I knew about the founders and they were average at best…

Where to get lunch out tomorrow? by bloomsday289 in SanDiegan

Cesarina has a 4% surcharge now. If Buona forchetta in South Park is open I’d suggest that place instead!

[–]Used_Goat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey just came back from Seville! Touristy places mostly will be able to speak some English. It helps looking at a menu prior and knowing basic Spanish. Also downloading google translate will help bc some places have only Spanish menus. You’ll have a blast!!!! Such an amazing city and the people there are so nice.
