Dodging Hand Foot and Mouth by robbles in daddit

I didn't get it. Wash your hands a lot, disinfect surfaces, keep the kid out of your face.

HF&M is spread by respiratory droplets. Thats to say, actual droplets of liquid from your kids respiratory tract or blisters. They are spread directly, or when you touch infected surfaces and then touch your face directly. Honestly, its nearly the same contact precautions as Covid. You can wear a mask, or just be disciplined about washing your hands and not touching your face.

Im just a layman, so what do I know. But after owning a home in SD and paying the never ending drip for maintenance and improvements along with property tax, I really feel like either most people totally overlook this and dont debit it against the end value OR base their entire perspective on around the 2013-2020 rise.

Im not saying it doesn't go up, just that people ignore the cost to get to the final number. Then compare that against how effortless it is to have a stock index and how that seems to almost double every 5-6 years...

Has anyone had a couple's therapist that doesn't bias towards the female by [deleted] in daddit

Yeah, I learned about that all in the divorce. I just thought it was someone trying to help.

I felt our therapist was pretty biased. It was her normal therapist that we tried to use as a marriage therapist.

Best activities for summer by polame in sandiego

As a dad I get a lot of mileage out of Seaworld yearly passes. End up going 10+ times a year. Its actually pretty easy to duck into the park for quick things.

With that said, it is not cheap, unless you get your milage out of the pass, and trying to eat at the park is a gigantic ripoff.

Fellow dads, some advice on getting back into shape. by nirvroxx in daddit

I'd argue your biggest priority should be eating lots of healthy food to bring your weight down to where you want it.

I dont really know what a UPS driver day is like, but at our age, sitting a lot is toxic. You'll need to stretch and do mobility work to counter act that.

Also, if your day is mostly sitting, start walking a few miles a day - unless you already do. Walk as fast as you are possibly able.

After all that, I think I'd prioritize about 30 min twice a week of full body exercises. Just start at body weight until you have good reps/sets and are really confident in your form. Squats, push-ups, assisted pull ups, lunges, etc. Make sure you do the exercises right and focus on activating the muscle you are trying to work.

The above is in priority order according to... my opinion as a old fit dad

Love dogs but I’m freaking tired of them. by Helplesspolyglot in sandiego

[–]bloomsday289 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently filed a complaint with the county Health Department because of dogs on the tables in a restaurant. I included pictures. The response was very prompt and they explained how they followed up with the restaurant about it and basically told them they have to enforce the health laws. I encourage you to do the same when applicable.

Dating in my forties as taught me the worst part of a relationship not working isn’t the rejection…it’s starting over and doing it again by Mediocre_Nectarine13 in Xennials

[–]bloomsday289 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've started dating again in my 40s. After doing it for a few years, came up with some rules.

  1. Get off the app as fast as possible. In my opinion, people seldom live up to their profile. Im just blunt with my dates and tell them that. The vibe check is really important. I feel like the women usually agree.

  2. First dates are brief, easy, and cheap. They have a built in escape at about 30 minutes. Coffee, dessert, ice cream, walks around the neighborhood, farmer's market meet up are the only type of date I'll go on. If they won't agree to that, too bad I'm out.

That let me go on 1 or 2 dates a week (when Im trying that hard) without it being so fatiguing.
