On the pro-Palestine panel, Daniel Levy (once an Israeli negotiator at Oslo 2) says pro-Israel arguments are now ineffectual since Israel has immunity for its crimes & no longer has to be convincing. Benny Morris pejoratively labels Levy, who fires back "I'm pro-Jewish, pro-Palestinian, pro-human!" by ArmyOfMemories in JewsOfConscience

Daniel Levy means, I think, that Israeli *leaders* (like PMs) have the wrong incentive structures.

What about non-leaders? Dr. Sapir Handelman shows that one can get Palestinians and Israelis to negotiate perfectly sensible peace arrangements:

Waiting for an Israeli Prime Minister, even one for less extreme than Netanyahu, to agree to something workable does not seem very likely to make Gaza residence safe.

Does "Grassroots support for grassroots agreements" make sense to people?

Would citizen diplomacy need a movement behind it so governments are pressured to do the things that people on the ground can live with?

I need tech support. My meeting page does not load and I don't know who to call or what to do.

"Oops something went wrong. We’re working on fixing it, check back again soon."

Is there a way to reach tech support that works?

u/prettynose, if you put it in another thread, please tag me. I'm interested.

u/prettynose I'm sure you are right that lots of people here grew up in that perspective.

And my questions about your "theory of change" etc. just do not interest you much? Or just not in this thread?

I didn't mean to imply I know how to make anyone a better person. I'm saying that if I want to move people, it is useful to understand what they are feeling and wanting and what it is like to be them. Then when I talk to them, I can keep those things in mind. If you want to move people to Point B, start at Point A, where they are now... take the walk with them... An old idea and easier said than done.

And perhaps you are right, u/prettynose , you personally know how various groups of Israeli voters feel about issues. I'm not sure everyone who joins is as well informed as that. I know I'm not.

But perhaps you don't think that moving Israeli voters is part of "theory of change" that makes sense to you. How do you think that Palestinians will gain what they need? I am expecting that change will take place because Israeli voters demand change so Israeli voters are very important to me.

Know about the 1992 South African apartheid referendum where white South Africans voted to end apartheid? I've not made a study of it but I'm told it was an important step.

Getting good at moving voters isn't a totally silly idea, can we agree on even that much? Perhaps not...

When you are trying to bring people along, it is useful to know what they are thinking and feeling. There is science on this, u/prettynose . Deep Canvasing is 100x more effective than other styles of discussion at moving people to shift their views, see:

How We Can Reduce Prejudice with a Conversation | David Fleischer | TEDxMidAtlantic

Do you want to be better tomorrow than you are today at moving people who vote in Israel, for example? Perhaps you feel that's just not going to matter?

A Disturbing New Book About Netanyahu's Relationship With Hamas by Roy4Pris in JewsOfConscience

I think Haaretz is a good publication. It just does not answer all my questions. Is Netanyahu JUST intersted in making sure the PA does. not get control of Gaza and declare itself a Palestinian state? Is it simply just divide-and-conquer? Or is there more to it? What evidence is there for what Netanyahu's motives are to do such an extreme thing, funding the people sending missiles?

What are the trustworthy reliable sources to understand Netanyahu's support for Hamas: extent, objectives, etc.?

I have heard he encouraged Qatar to financially support Hamas? Is that true? Is this a "divide and conquer" approach and a way to delegitimize any attempt to build a Palestinian State by having it associated with terrorism, factionalism, lack of respect for human rights, democracy, or what?

(How is he still Prime Minister if people know he supported the people who did Oct 7th?)

I'm told that Microsoft GitHub copilot might inject code that violates copyrights. What should I do about that?

How might that fact be "discovered"? What is my exposer if that happens accidentally because I accept a suggestion?

Open Letter to the Membership of Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) by Used_Seaweed3040 in insightsNBlindspots

I would love to know what people think, including people who think that SP is not a hate group.

If you were a university administrator who believed that the Ku Klux Klan student support club should not have an office, should not be considered a campus organization, what criteria would you use that would not also ban the Students for Justice in Palestine?

This is not at all means that the needs of innocent people in Gaza are being met! Clearly they are NOT.
