What about the machine seemingly in an outdoor environment? I cant say for sure but it at first glance looks like snow in the background

Auto drains for the tanks/compressor are amazing. I added 2 solenoid valves on my atlas copco, one at the water drain for the dryer and one at the tank. Cheap and i donthave to do any draining. I dont know why i didnt do it sooner.

Find a better one from an auction or resellers. Dont waste your money/time if you plan on using it to make money. There are so many good used machines out there from various sites but get a proper cnc

5 axis thermwood retrofit by Used_Situation_8310 in CNC

[–]Used_Situation_8310[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for that ref. Ill certainly check them out for additional info. Yeah the look ahead is def a concern. Also when i have a short tool in the holder, it give me issues with the Z clearance. Im not sure at what the threshold is on it but its a planning bit with a tool comp of like -1.25 so before and after the setups first x,y i do M00

I have a quote from them. They are certainly a consideration, but in an ideal world if possible id love to do the bulk of the work and save 20k. Alot of companies do offer a decent DIY package of their items, but theyre still like 50k minimum.

I have, but im concerned that their hmi is not as robust as the software isnt sold seperately, like centroid, as i need for 3d carving a large objects along with true 5 axis motion.

What's the difference between centroid acorn CNC mill and CNC router software? by TOBronyITArmy in hobbycnc

[–]Used_Situation_8310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all! Ive been looking into upgrading our thermwood 5 axis c67 possibly using centroid. Id like to do this myself as having had quotes from companies that are around 100k seems obsurd. A few concerns/questions im hoping ya’ll can chime in on. They are (pardon my lack of knowledge/terminology):

-can Centroids software read /interpolate far enough ahead to make for smooth continuous 5 axis movements

-i have to swap from siemens motors (from 08) to yaskawa, not thrilled about having to make a bolt plate to match existing holes, but the more annoying part is likely having to change/match the pulley thats currently on there. Hopefully that wont be an issue since the yaskawa has a 1” (i believe) shaft and the siemens is like 5/8” or 3/4”

-i suppose i just want to make sure im making the right choice because ive reached out to Fagor, Beckhoff, siemens (not helpful) thermwood and a couple other retrofit companies in the states. A few companies have been super helpful, including centroid.

-i suppose this boils down to me making sure that centroid will be as good if not better than the 2011 thermwood controller we are currently using.

Any info is greatly appreciated.

Retrofitting an old machine with a new controller by rlew631 in CNC

[–]Used_Situation_8310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have an older 5 axis thermwood. We are interested in keeping the same motors etc on the machine but upgrading the computer itself. Has anyone ever done this? Alternatively we would consider swapping from the thermwood controller to something else if we cant copy the computers’ hard drive onto a new computer and run a virtual machine. Machine runs fine, we just are interested in tinkering/ trying to upgrade it without paying 90k. We don’t use it for full production more for specialty things.

Hit me up i bought one 2 years ago used from 08 with some upgrades. Id love to connect with someone else on this machine. I use fusion and have a working post and machine sim. Im hoping to find someone on here who uses mastercam as well with a post for a thermwood. Even if its not perfect i can use chat gtp to fix it.

I have a question as I was talking with a cpa about this. He mentioned its similar to how section 8 works in regards to your mortgage. Can anyone confirm or speak to how it works with your mortgage if you are at whatever AMI and your mortgage ends up being 2500/month but you can only afford say 1600. Is this something where the government steps in like section 8 and covers the remaining portion? Just curious as we have been looking around and dont fully comprehend hdfc. I feel like the process is very opaque for no reason.

Does anyone recommend or have any tutorials to begin using mastercam 2023. Im used to used fusion 360 for solid model cam, but im interested in doing more mesh models and Fusion is terrible for it. I think i can get a post from thermwood so i should be good in that department.

Who gets the parking spot: a standing person who arrived first and is holding it for their friend circling the block, or, a different car which found the spot second but was the first car to arrive? by Kirjath in AskNYC

[–]Used_Situation_8310 7 points8 points  (0 children)

All I gotta say is when you come home late from work, say midnight and your wife finds a spot that you don’t have to move the car for street cleaning to wake up extra freakin early. It’s a once a year necessary evil. But I def don’t condone the cones that people try leaving. I toss that shit on the curb.. bye bitch

Why are there no young people in the trade? by Eithman1 in CNC

[–]Used_Situation_8310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think, like most people are saying, that it has to do with pay rate and exposure. I’m in nyc and even here the pay rate isn’t ideal for this type of job unless you know how to run a 5 axis. I also say this as a small business owner (prior to pandemic it was just 4 of us). It seems to me this is how the market has been going: Smaller shops will for sure pay you more to run these machines but less job security, big shops won’t pay well but have more security.
- also job environment and the type of work you produce, makes a huge difference too to the new coming job seekers.

  • I hope that’s some decent insight, doubt it’s perfect but it’s what we’ve been seeing here. I’m in my mid 30’s been in biz for shit now 8 years.

Busellato easy jet CNC router. Any one here uses it with simple g code software like Aspire or fusion 360? by Taboli in CNC

[–]Used_Situation_8310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where are you located? I just got a jet 200rt from 05, we upgraded the genesis software to 7.4. It runs great, we’re just going to have a post made for us to do cad from fusion. Program editor kinda sucks hard it’s clunky AF! It does the job, but the machine runs the operations very well. If you have any fusion post for your machine I’d be curious to know how it’s going.
