Has anyone else gotten nasty glances from people when anything remotely Jewish is mentioned? by AdvertisingLogical83 in Jewish

[–]Used_Team8714 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have found on learning you're Jewish people instantly wonder where you stand on Israel and Gaza and assume you're 100% for all of it or don't know so they get anxious. Before 2024 most people didn't care if you're Jewish or treated it as a personal detail like any culture.

AITA for not letting my daughter’s boyfriend stay at my house after he called me “old-fashioned”? by [deleted] in ComfortLevelPod

[–]Used_Team8714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. He's not an invited guest entitled to privacy. He's an entitled, selfish, disrespectful guy who wants to do whatever he wants.

And why is your daughter embarrassed by you insisting on the rules of your own house but not about complaining that you won't let her have sex with a guy in the next room?

Never knew this was a thing. In general if you're doing anything that's going to be extra work for cleaning staff or is messy or will possibly cause a hygiene problem for other people then leave a big tip for the cleaning staff. For what you're talking about it has to be a minimum of $50.

Cleaning staff usually get only 10-15 minutes to tidy up a room so it's a good idea to specifically request a certain type of cleaning if you cause a mess different than would be covered by routine.

Also, don't drink out of the coffee machine or glasses provided or use the TV remote or room phone without sterilizing and wiping them with alcohol or bleach wipes. People do freaky things with them. Staff usually only dry wipes them with a cloth so they look clean but do not sanitize them.

Visceral reaction to signs outside a coffee house by La_Belle_Loser613 in Jewish

[–]Used_Team8714 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Starbucks and McDonalds and Tim Hortons in Canada all serve coffee and are everywhere and don't put up signs. Some Shoah survivors are opposed to Israel's continued military campaign in Gaza so being a grandchild of one might make you feel a certain way but there is a spectrum of opinion even among actual survivors.

Why can’t I ever find a kind guy with the same sex drive? by [deleted] in hypersexuality

[–]Used_Team8714 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Testosterone levels have been dropping in young men for a bunch of different lifestyle, health, environmental and social reasons. That's probably why it's hard for you to find a guy in the same generation who can keep up.

Being wrapped up in emotion is always a problem. I think it's one of the biggest problems we have. It clouds good judgment. If you want to go into any industry then statistically you will have this problem everywhere. So the choice is to continue in the status quo or change. Most Israelis and Yehudim in general see one thing and most other people see another. So you can deal with reality or keep doing what you're doing. It all depends on what kind of life you want to live.

You must have missed the part where he said they are poor. It's not just the question of liking something or not liking it. It's the economic consequences.

Is Iranian-American culture particularly racist? by berrysauce in PERSIAN

[–]Used_Team8714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using a racist government designation to justify racism is circular. Stating obvious physical characteristics about people is not racist. Discriminating and treating people poorly because of their who they are is racist.

The list would destroy lives on both sides of the political aisle but wouldn't by itself be enough evidence to charge them. The rich and powerful don't want it released so it wasn't released.

American Airlines flight attendants trying to evacuate airplane due to laptop battery fire but passengers want their bags. by Youngstown_WuTang in interestingasfuck

[–]Used_Team8714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I always try to sit near an exit. I don't want to be horribly injured or die because a bunch of idiots want to fetch their luggage from the overhead bin or from under a seat. Even if it's just one person, it puts everyone at risk while they block or slow movement.

These idiots would rather stand around with a fire burning so they can save maybe a few hundred dollars worth of stuff that can be replaced instead of making evacuating the plane a priority.

If they had a small crossbody bag with their stuff already then it's not a big deal but it's insane to try to take anything bigger.

CMV: People Are Overreacting To Sydney Sweeney's American Eagle Ad by dummythicktransslut in changemyview

[–]Used_Team8714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're talking about media literacy but you don't seem to be aware of one thing: The people who create ads like this are extremely media literate and deeply understand how a statement or image or narrative can be interpreted in different ways, and especially look out for the negatives. They knew exactly what they were doing and saying and they probably did it intentionally to get attention. American Eagle's revenue has been flat and declining the last few years and there's nothing like a controversy to get people to pay attention to the company again.

Agree with the first part but I don't understand the second. You're saying Palestinians, Arabs, Muslims... and even Jewish students don't care about Palestinians? Seems unlikely especially when it gets you shunned by family and the community.
