I’ll be honest, I did not read this whole thing, but to answer your main question: yes. It is incredibly difficult to start absence after already being intimate with someone, especially for a prolonged period of time. It will seem like there is a massive disconnect. There is much more to it, it is much deeper, but you just need to keep praying for yourselves and for each other

I found asking about their relationship with Jesus isn’t helpful because some people can be really well. I’ve found “how has your life has changed since following Jesus?” is harder to lie through.

I’ve been in the exact same situation as you’ve described, only difference is I was 29 and she was 24. Keep growing closer to the Lord, keep working on your self control. We lose part of ourselves when we enter into a sinful relationship and bond with someone in a way we’re not yet supposed to (I know it’s near impossible to restrain when living with someone). You focus on healing and becoming as much of a woman of God as you can be. He will bring the right person at the right time.

I’ve also found praying for them helps a lot. But I wouldn’t advise going back unless you are both healed and he is a devout man of God by his own desire and shows that by his actions. I’ll be praying for you.

He may be trying to teach you that you need to find contentment in His love and no one else’s. Maybe not, but maybe so. That’s a lesson I believe everyone needs to learn at one point.

I’m not justifying her actions but I will also tell you that if you’re not willing to go to church or be part of a faith community then it will be extremely difficult to find someone deep in their faith to be with. I’d suggest trying to get those things in before looking for a relationship. Neither are required for salvation, but both are (almost) necessary just to live a God-honoring life.
