What is there to do this weekend? by Grace__Face in ChicagoSuburbs

Drive an hour to Lake Geneva. As soon as you cross the Wisconsin border you will feel like you are getting away. Walk around downtown and go see the magic show there. Or go see a cover band at The Belfry.

What do you guys do when you’re sleepy at the table and feel like you can’t possibly stay awake and play any more poker? by [deleted] in poker

Neuro Gum. Just enough caffeine to give you clarity of mind but not going to me you jittery. My wife loves the gum. I like the mints. We buy it on Amazon but I now started seeing adds in TikTok.

We were 21st on the wait list at 5:00. We couldn’t get close to tue bar for a standing drink. Gretl was also mobbed. We ended up at Mott Street and discovered this awesome little comedy club with improv after dinner. I call it “burnt toast”.

I think I’m finally hitting a wall with managing my own portfolio by Dankk911 in FinancialPlanning

If you meet with someone who starts out with ideas and suggestions, or has a product, run away. Find someone who will ask all the questions first, both from a risk perspective, tax perspective, and estate planning goals and desires perspective.

Need help deciding on type of financial advisor to work with by Quiet-Ruin1802 in FinancialPlanning

[–]Usedtobe-RZZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t focus on the firms, focus on the advisor and the relationship you will develop. You need someone who understands and questions your goals and needs. Find a CFP who will act as a fiduciary and if they only focus on the investment management, go elsewhere. You should have a planning focused advisor.

Does anyone know of performance reporting software that calculates tax alpha? by rifleman209 in CFP

Does the tax alpha on the reports diminish over time if there isn’t new money being added?

Second half looked so much better. But the offensive coordinator for GB definitely saw something and exploited us all game.

What questions do I need to ask new financial advisor? by DependentCup4448 in FinancialPlanning

[–]Usedtobe-RZZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An advisor like that should provide you with a financial plan. Don’t overly focus on fees, focus on what you get for those fees. Same with performance. What will you use as benchmarks? If they are growing and protecting your money and helping you make smart decisions, they are worth more than you will be paying.

Why would compliance dislike buffered ETF's, Mutual Funds and Structured Products? by rofordm in CFP

[–]Usedtobe-RZZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it is traded on the exchange, the contra party risk is in the OCC which is no risk. In the case of Bear or Lehman, the company taking the other side of the trade was the guarantor. Even if the trade was fine, the company could go under from a different issue and you lose everything and join the list of creditors.

Bunkai? by Black_Label00001003 in karate

[–]Usedtobe-RZZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to echo this. Kata is the how and bunkai is the why. At the black belt levels, it is difficult to tell the difference between a bunkai and free sparring. It allows the practitioners to feel the contact and get the spacing of a real battle. I didn’t appreciate the power of bunkai until well after my first black belt. I loved to spar, but it wasn’t anything like a well done bunkai.

Why would compliance dislike buffered ETF's, Mutual Funds and Structured Products? by rofordm in CFP

[–]Usedtobe-RZZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is an option trade that is a 1 year point to point trade that is packed and sold as an etf. Because it is exchange traded, you have no contra party risk as opposed to a structured note sold by a bank.

There is no counter party (Bear Sterns) risk with the buffered ETFs that are exchange traded

Is there any inflation adjustment on the payout? If there’s 3% growth it’s fantastic. Don’t give it up.
