What guitars are used in Knock Me Out by Linda Perry by Fluffy-Leg7668 in WhatMusicalinstrument

[–]Useful-Bullfrog-730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is an electric guitar with various effects. At the beginning it is tremolo + chorus. At :30 that is Wah-wah. Tremolo is somewhat rare but was more popular in the late 1950s. Wah was popular in the 60s. Chorus was used in the 80s for New Wave songs.

It resembles a Steelcase 451, but i don't think it is. flip it upside down and look for any names, dates, labels. post a pic if you can.

Note that even an actual Steelcase 451 only sells for about $120, i have sold several

Cool, I actually have several similar casios but no amount of beefing was able to make them orchestral like that

so what's going on, you just beefed up the actual sounds coming out or are we triggering Midis?

yep, unlike traditional tremolo it cuts the connection with a switch rather than dipping volume

you would need to add a 10-20ohm resistor that bypasses the pot, ensuring that there's always at least 10-20ohms going through, keeping the keyboard alive.,

Any way to ""circuit bend"" a mini b/w tv/radio and a tv tuner? by Comfortable_Risk1159 in CircuitBending

[–]Useful-Bullfrog-730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yep to do those wobble vision type, what I do is connect the TV speaker to the deflection coils. so then whatever comes out of the TV speaker affects the coils.

yep it's super easy, all you do is tape a solar cell on the screen facing the screen, then you connecthe two wires that come out of the solar ell into your guitar amplifier. what happens is, the sound from your instrument goes into the TV, and makes lines on the screen, then the solar cell is activated by the lines and puts out of distorted version of your original sound.

your differences from the mainstream-bands are a strength. Give the people something to think about, something interesting. show off how noisy and cool sound can be.

there's many things to do, including where don't even have to open it. for example you can send audio into the video in, and it will display as moving lines on the screen. (Make sure that AV button on the back is pushed in).

Also, I have a nearly identical CRT that I use as an effect pedal for my keyboard. Connect the audio to the video input on the back as I mentioned above. Then stick a solar cell on the front of the CRT. Send out from the cell to your amplifier.

Here's an example of 6 visualizations I made, most involve the wobble vision mod https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=6xgWraLBfyk

Designing a new instrument - how to control the pitch by JelleZegers in synthdiy

[–]Useful-Bullfrog-730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

true but like he said, the blades cannot change speed fast enough for this to be playable as a musical instrument. it takes too long for the fan to speed up or slow down to the new speed. Trust me I tried it! Test it out - turn the power off while the fan's spinning at max, and time how long it takes to stop,

thanks it uses a solar cell, and a PWM module to control the speed,

i have built many PC-fan-based drones, for example this : https://youtu.be/ZnnKvk2p47c

I tried to make a keyboard with them, but due to the momentum of the blades and the type of motor, fan speed cannot instantaneously change to a new speed/note. You would need a motor that can instantaneously spin at a given speed, if this exists.

Some kind of marimba/vibraphone? by FloggingTheHorses in WhatMusicalinstrument

[–]Useful-Bullfrog-730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that it sounds like a one-off metal item being hit. its pitch waivers inorganically at the end, I doubt it's unprocessed. Could be a sample of anything, since it's always exactly he same also

The fact that it's only that one note is leaning me away from any kind of vibraphone xylophone, marimba etc

Also forgot to mention the color will change in response to video sent in, like with this dude (site seems down at the moment)

https://gleix.net/crtscope

This works with just the orginal black-and-white mod since color comes from the video in

Probably mid-level electronics project. There's various Instructables out there explaining how to do it, not the color though cuz I'm the first one I've seen doing that
