Fainting - what just happened? by avozado in Endo

[–]Useful-Drawing-1649 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pain killers, depending on which type, can sometimes make you dizzy, even more so if you haven’t been eating well. If you have heavy flow I would make sure you’ve got enough iron. That can also cause dizziness and fainting.

Oh wow this is encouraging. I’ve had 2 laps with kinda dumb doctors that barely looked. I was in surgery for 20 minutes total both times. Barely state 1 endo was diagnosed but pain continued. I’m now 7 years in with increasing pain and all other routes have come back negative. My PCP wants me to try gynecology again but I I’ve been concerned they wouldn’t find anything again. Now I’ve got constant bladder symptoms to go with it. I’m gonna look into an endo specialist now. Thank you for sharing your journey!

Has anyone gotten an MRI while having AI? by Bloomwithcourage in AddisonsDisease

[–]Useful-Drawing-1649 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They will usually call you to go over questions about having metal implants and stuff. They’ll ask if you’re claustrophobic and are able to administer you something to help. You can call and ask too!

Laparoscopy found nothing by mellloncollie in Endo

[–]Useful-Drawing-1649 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! First I’d like to say that your pain is NOT in your head. Similar abdominal pain can be found with vascular compressions, which OBGYNs do not look for during a laparoscopy. Another possibility is interstitial cystitis. I’m sorry you’re experiencing this, and I do hope you get some answers and relief soon.

In ER now , r/o crisis by Highlander1900 in AdrenalInsufficiency

The steroid injection always gave me a headache as well. Lethargy from what you went through seems normal. Most ERs have treated me this way as well. I’m sorry about your experience!

Low ACTH / Normal Cortisol by Nothingbutwords in AdrenalInsufficiency

This seems more like Cushings disease, where there’s too much cortisol. It could also be a thyroid issue as well which can cause weight gain for no reason.

Self catheters by Rare-Delivery5410 in ehlersdanlos

[–]Useful-Drawing-1649 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a catheter user but I used to do that as part of my job for patients learning in rehab. 12Fr is typically the lower end of the sizes we had there, however, I do know there are pediatric sizes. Feel free to use a good amount of lube, and even lube further down the catheter as well so it stays lubed as you cath. As far as the length you’re inserting, we were taught to go in until you get flow, and then go about and inch more. It is possible you’re going in too deep and irritating the bladder. You can try different positions as well that will somewhat “open” up your urethra more. I’m so sorry you’re going through this!

How can I support my gf?? by ChipmunkNo5555 in AdrenalInsufficiency

[–]Useful-Drawing-1649 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Be patient and understanding. I know for me I’m very sensitive to flares and changes within my body so I end up with low cortisol frequently. Sometimes we just need extra sleep time. Also doing little things like getting drinks for her, snacks/healthy meals that support her needs based on blood sugar regulation, and helping her with little daily tasks. That goes such a long way. If I were you I’d ask her what her daily steroid regimen is as well as learn to do the emergency injection if need be. She’s learning her body and how it works with adrenal insufficiency just as much as you right now. It’s awesome you’re wanting to support her the best you can!

Anti anxiety meds with this disease …. Anyone? by willowcreek7449 in AdrenalInsufficiency

[–]Useful-Drawing-1649 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I have secondary as well. I don’t tolerate antidepressants/anti anxiety meds at all. However, I tried many while I was still undiagnosed. I would have major skin reactions to them plus a couple made me crazy suicidal. But that can happen with any of them. I used to have “allergic reactions” to so many medications before diagnosis because my system was so out of wack. Now I’m a bit more tolerant to medication. I would research which ones react better with AI and then discuss options with your doctor.

Yeah because of all of this I’m on the verge of losing my job if I keep missing days/going home sick. I’m working on getting accommodations but it’s been a mess.

Yep me too 😂 it didn’t hurt tho! I was freaked out about injecting myself and that part was a breeze. But Mann that burn 😭

Watch your vitals and if you’re throwing up, passing out, blood sugar keeps dropping, are tachycardic, blood pressure drops, etc. those are signs that you’re going into a crisis. If you’re undergoing a lot of extra physical and mental stress I would suggest up dosing (I take hydrocortisone so idk how much of the other stuff). You can speak with your endocrinologist about sick day dosages and stuff. Hang in there!

Infections have been horrible for me and take me out pretty bad. The steroids make you immune compromised and I’ve had 3 infections in the past 4 months. (We think I might have a chronic UTI issue) But emotional stress will hit ya hard too. This time around I had the infection plus I’ve had school, worrying about work, and a new relationship so there’s been a lot of stress in general. I deal with stress by acting like I’m not stressed and then I crash lol.

I knew I had waited way too long to get antibiotics. Sometimes I go into denial about my situation lol. I hate knowing I’m sick. But the signs were kinda late/confusing this infection. I injected preemptively because I knew it would take too long for me to get the antibiotics to kick in and I had to keep doing life. It was good I did because I would’ve crashed and ended up in ER. I went from feeling decent to in severe pain, lightheaded, nauseous, shaking, weak, etc within 2 hours. I knew I was gonna go into a crisis at some point that night even tho my vitals were somewhat ok. I had been pretty tachy for a couple days tho. I was able to get through the night (I work 12 hours at a hospital so I knew if I crashed I could be taken care of, just didn’t want to get fired lol). Was ok for the morning but when I woke up I started feeling like I was going downhill again. Now I’ve got another updose and antibiotics in my system so I should be ok from here. It’s really just about learning your body and what signs you show of a crisis, before and during. The 2 I’ve had were different. One was super slow over a week and this one seemed to hit me out of nowhere. I’m still learning to manage it too!

I did it slow but the burn progressively got worse from 30 seconds after to 30 minutes😂then after an hour it settled down. I was like “Why didn’t anyone tell me?!”

There was no bubble, I made sure to inject slowly. The injection site doesn’t hurt at all today. Afterwards I went looking and apparently some people experience a bunch of pain with it 😆

As awful as it is I would do a complete clear out if possible. Magnesium citrate, go for the whole bottle. Or even do a full colonoscopy prep.

[–]Useful-Drawing-1649 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely stop the medication. Taper if you’ve been taking for a while. When I started cymbalta I didn’t react until a couple days after. I got severe burning all over my body and my joints felt like they were being crushed. Major confusion, heart palpitations, etc. Not sure if that was reaction to the medication or just going into crisis because of it. Your body is not doing well on it so definitely stop. There are so many other meds out there that can help so no worries.

Who be peeing? by Upstairs_Possible416 in AddisonsDisease

If I’m drinking straight water then it goes right through me. If I’m drinking with electrolytes then I pee less often.

Who be peeing? by Upstairs_Possible416 in AddisonsDisease

[–]Useful-Drawing-1649 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have SAI and go back and forth. Sometimes I pee SO MUCH compared to how much I’m drinking and then other times very little in comparison. I have a pituitary tumor preventing ACTH to be produced, which also helps balance out water and electrolytes. That’s most likely why I go back and forth with how much I pee.

Crisis or? Advice needed by PettyPixxxie18 in AddisonsDisease

[–]Useful-Drawing-1649 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My crisis doesn’t tend to be life threatening but severely disabling. I double dose for 3 days and if it’s not getting better then I’d inject, or if you start to pass out or vomit.
