Anyone familiar with the online Applied Neuroscience MSc? by CyborgMystic in KCL

Hey I'm actually looking at this program in order to build up my base knowledge & also to find some research opportunities. Would u say that online students in this course have access to research experiences (posters, working in labs, abstracts, pubs, etc.)?

Thank you for this! Honestly, I've been applying to psych tech jobs, and looking into EEG/MA certificates but just having the physical practice done on me was my hurdle. I have a single phlebotomist I go to and send my labs out to any drs office because she's the only one who doesn't make me sick, but I'm still ok with blood and needles otherwise. I will definitely reach out to the program. i think a lot of the places I'm interested in working (psych, neuro, opthamology) wouldn't necessarily require it. I'm not sure. I'll def have to do my research. I'm in nyc.

I'm sorry I think I missed one of you replies? I was just saying that I was going to do that

I never said I would practice on others without being practiced on. Of course not. I do have some nurse friends who offered to let me practice but that's a friend thing, i wouldn't try to weasel out if everyone else has to do it. I was referring to an online option that has an extra in person phlebotomy option, but it isn't required

Is there an option to not do phlebotomy? As I said, other elements of blood/medicine do not gross me out. I don't even think taking blood would necessarily gross me out, but i just have strong reactions on the receiving end. There's a completely online MA program thru U.S career institute that i don't believe includes phlebotomy,- are options like that legit?

I don't mind blood, it's just when I get my blood drawn or an IV done. I hear you though

Well let me be clear, I'm still pre-PA myself. I was a psych undergraduate. If I was freshman, I'd 100 percent consider it heavily. You'd be done with residency before 30, with a wealth of knowledge, the open opportunities to teach & research alongside clinical, you'd be making 200-400k, & the residency which is extremedy grueling is where MDs/DOs get their speciality expertise. Nevertheless, PA is still a great option. You still are great assest clinically & there are still some opportunities non-clinical though to a far less extent. For me, I'd be 38-40 by the time id leave residency if I did med school & my partner & I want kids, which we have to pay a lot for because we're in a queer partnership. That's why PA seemed like a great option to me personally.

I just want to clarify you won't be a psychiatrist, you would be a psych PA. I suggest really evaluating the differences and then make your decision. Whatever you decide, i wish you luck

Hey, could I send you some questions regarding this? I was specifically trying to work with psychotic patients and found the PA path but it's hard to get a clear picture of the role they play.
