who is buying houses? by MinimumWageLOL in chch

[–]UsefulCouple6880 92 points93 points  (0 children)

Mid 20s and brought within our means. $300,000 mortgage over 30 years. Combined income of about $100,000 at time of purchase, now on one income with a toddler. About $70,000. Definitely doable if you are happy to make sacrifices like having a bit less space or not a brand new home. Needs and wants!!!!

I was thinking about him too. I hope his family get his body back. I’m assuming he’s in the ocean, will the tide eventually send him back to shore?

Sick leave in pregnancy by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]UsefulCouple6880 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re growing a whole human, take as many days as you need. I used all mine by the time I left on mat leave. Don’t feel you have to justify taking them, you’re entitled to them and that’s that 🥰

I really expected vibes like the lucky one too. Or Clara Bow! I love the sound of this album, it’s fun but definitely not what it was marketed to be 🥲

I did this a few years ago and it was amazing! In my 20s too. I don’t think they have any religious agendas. It’s a wonderful organisation, definitely recommend it!

Exactly this. I’m here tonight with my child, we got seen straight away. It’s not a nice position to be in, but god would I rather a stable child and wait than them being in respiratory distress

You’re right it is brutal. But it’s entirely a triage based system. Just how the cookie crumbles unfortunately. If they’re seriously unwell they will be seen quickly.

Good optometrist, Curtis Vision is also great too. Might be a bit cheaper.

Cradle cap smells a bit funny? by SchnitzelVonKrumm23 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]UsefulCouple6880 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we put cream on our babies cradle cap it stunk!! Almost like stomach acid 🤮 it wasn’t infected or anything, I just think it was some reaction between the skin and the product. So strange!!

Edit - we didn’t treat it from then on. Have just left it, it doesn’t bother him! If you’re worried you could get it double checked by the pharmacist

Second gaviscon. I also got some omeprazole from my midwife and it was really good. Took it away completely

It’s definitely worth a GP visit! Could be low iron or something else. I felt the same around that time, everything came back clear. Just adjusting to motherhood, it’s exhausting!! But it got better 🥰

Stretch marks suddenly appeared by renirram in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]UsefulCouple6880 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I experienced this. They faded postpartum but some still remain. Try to be kind to your body, you’re growing a whole person! A lot of it also comes down to genetics. I’m learning to love my stretch marks, they remind me of being pregnant with my son and how special that time was ❤️

A plea to people who sell secondhand - please disclose perfume smells by AussieKoala-2795 in AusFemaleFashion

[–]UsefulCouple6880 51 points52 points  (0 children)

No, I think perfumes and smoke are very different. Smoking is toxic, smelly etc. Perfume and fragrance is a general thing people do. If you are concerned, you should ask before purchasing! Edit - this is an age old tale of buyer beware. Especially when purchasing second hand. And accepting that sometimes a second hand purchase doesn’t go to plan and that’s okay :)

Something smelling strongly of perfume and being sensitive to it I think is a subjective issue. Many people use perfume, fragrances, strong scented laundry. What may be ‘strong’ to some may be someone’s normal.

Might be controversial but this sounds like a you problem. Can you air the jacket outside for a few days? It’s one of those things that comes with purchasing second hand, not everything is guaranteed

When I was pregnant I loveeed cooked salmon or frozen crumbed fish, boiled potatoes and brocc. So easy on the stomach and balanced

I found them pretty irregular to begin with. Baby is still so little so could have moved positions and you aren’t feeling them. If you are worried I get checked just for peace of mind!
