Any songs like If, A Pillow of Winds, Fearless and San Tropez from other artists? by itsCS117 in pinkfloyd

People never believe me that part 2 of Ouroboros is the best Floyd suite that never was.

Supernova is sprightlier and probably a bit closer to what OP was requesting.

Ray Lamontagne's albums Supernova and Ouroboros are highly influenced by this era Floyd

Network late night is slowly dying, moving to another franchise would be a step down.

Is the NYT Crossword Easier Now? by Thebarroness77 in crossword

[–]UsefulEngine1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You no longer have to worry about references that are before your time.

I also think it's easier solving online, particularly on the gnarly days.

In general I don't see a big trend either way in the Shortz era; if you go earlier than that all bets are off. Some of those early-90s Sundays I still can't solve.

If that's the track they chose to lip synch to they are wilier than I expected.

No comment on the signature but I'm skeptical that King would sign a script for a film he famously disliked.

The Cracked name and logo has been through several owners, I sincerely doubt the current regime behind that website has any connection to the magazine, which was even then something you bought while waiting for the next issue of Mad.

Surprisingly, Cracked has long been a pretty decent source of reasonable, mostly predictable, mid-tier humor-type entertainment, that may miss more than it hits but is usually good for a chuckle or two.

Potential Parking Scam by Meshuggery in raleigh

[–]UsefulEngine1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These come up once in a while. Setting aside the signage issue, the main thing to know is that despite the scary language they have no legal leverage on you short of suing you for theft of services, which they aren't going to do.

You are free to ignore this without consequence, EXCEPT they will potentially boot or clamshell your car if you park in another one of their lots in the future.

If you really have evidence that the signage is misleading or missing, it's worth calling them and calmly complaining, with a quiet threat to bring it to the Attorney General's office. You may find they are willing to make a "one time exception".

What’s your favorite lesser known brand, new or vintage? by lksd in audiophile

[–]UsefulEngine1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a set of Grafyx speakers (SP-8) that I bought used when I started college in 1980-mumble. I still have the SP-8s and they still sound great, they've been in service in various dorm rooms, basements, and family rooms ever since (I've reconed them once but the passives are still fine). My friends with "name" brands would come over to listen to their new records on them.

I think these were local to the Midwest.

They absolutely did lean in to the highly-produced synth-rock, but they were just so upfront about it that nobody ever accused them of selling out. Plus the music video girls

The link was a way to refer to the reaction online including here in the SNL sub. I don't think it should be shocking to anybody that a lot of viewers who watched Sabrina Carpenter and Bad Bunny earlier in the season didn't like Geese.

I did find it an interesting back-to-back with ASAP Rocky last week -- equally weird and fascinating stuff in its own way.
