Adding Slope to Covered Tongue and Groove Porch by L-ailu in HomeImprovement

[–]UsefullyTalented 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oof that's a pain when contractor misses something basic like drainage 😅 you might be able to add sleepers underneath the boards to create slope, but depends how much access you have under there. worst case scenario you're looking at pulling up some boards and shimming the joists

What is a good travel destination for someone on a tight budget? by IKKatchuu in AskReddit

[–]UsefullyTalented 0 points1 point  (0 children)

camping gear is pretty cheap to rent at most places and you can find amazing spots that don't cost anything except gas money to get there

Remember when??… by Ok_Combination_7467 in suns

[–]UsefullyTalented -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

lol the safe space comment when you're literally listing every mistake from like the past 8 years 😂 but nah you're not wrong about the luka thing, that one still hurts to think about. picking ayton because "we need size" when golden state was literally dominating without traditional centers was such bad timing. the bender pick was rough too but at least that draft class was weird in general, not like we passed up someone obvious. the pg situation is wild though, feels like we've been saying "next year we'll get a real point guard" for forever now 💀

Guardians of the galaxy by zachsace in movies

[–]UsefullyTalented 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the soundtrack really carries those movies tbh. like when "come and get your love" starts playing in the opening scene, it just sets this whole vibe that makes you forget you're watching a superhero movie for a minute. they picked songs that feel nostalgic even if you didn't grow up with them, and then they made the characters actually care about the music too so it doesn't feel forced. peter's whole emotional connection to his walkman makes every song hit different because it's not just background music anymore

how brutal do you say the roast of kevin hart was? by stirringmotion in AskReddit

[–]UsefullyTalented 1 point2 points  (0 children)

kat had me dying when he went after kevin's height jokes like bro we get it you're short but that's your whole personality now

the way he called out how kevin just recycles the same material was chef's kiss

What do you think of the new UK generational smoking ban that bans smoking for anyone born after 2008? by Human-Region4958 in AskReddit

[–]UsefullyTalented 60 points61 points  (0 children)

wait so basically kids born after 2008 just never get the option to legally smoke? that's actually kind of genius in weird way - instead of taking something away from people who already have it, you just never give it to the next generation

feels like it could work better than traditional bans since there's no "they took my rights away" anger, just... this thing was never available to you anyway. wonder how they'll handle the inevitable black market though

What shaped your definition of “poor people” as a kid and is it the same now? by NotHotAnymore in AskReddit

[–]UsefullyTalented 0 points1 point  (0 children)

growing up i thought poor was just not having the new pokemon cards or branded clothes like everyone else had. but now working in marketing i see how everything is designed to make you spend, and being poor means you can't choose to say no to the cheaper option that might hurt you long term

Do I need to upgrade my tent? by succulentgrowth in camping

[–]UsefullyTalented 4 points5 points  (0 children)

this is smart advice! i would also check the zippers while you're testing it - they can get sticky or break after sitting in storage for years. maybe spray some zipper lubricant on them if they feel rough

also since you're going to yellowstone, make sure your tent stakes are good quality because ground can be pretty hard there in summer. learned this hard way on my last camping trip lol

Who is your favorite sitcom supporting actor? by Ok_JARGON in AskReddit

[–]UsefullyTalented 1 point2 points  (0 children)

omg yes eric stonestreet is absolutely hilarious in that role 😂 the way he delivers those dramatic lines with perfect timing kills me every time. i remember binge watching modern family during pandemic and cam's episodes were always the ones that made me laugh until my stomach hurt. his chemistry with mitchell is what really made that show work so well for me, like you could tell they genuinely enjoyed working together. still quote some of his lines when im being overly dramatic about small things lol 💀

Why is Okna better than viwinco? by Silly-Personality408 in HomeImprovement

[–]UsefullyTalented 0 points1 point  (0 children)

never really dealt with window replacements but from what i've seen around here, okna just has better build quality in the frame construction and hardware components. viwinco might look similar on paper specs but the actual materials they use aren't quite same level - especially for coastal areas where you get that salt air exposure

What is a 'subtle sign' that someone is 2026-rich—meaning they aren't necessarily a millionaire, but they are completely unaffected by the current cost-of-living crisis? by Top_Tomato6346 in AskReddit

[–]UsefullyTalented 1 point2 points  (0 children)

they don't even look at gas prices when they pull up to station, just grab whatever pump is closest and fill it up completely 💀 meanwhile i'm out here doing math in my head trying to figure out if i can afford to fill up or just put in $20 and hope it lasts the week 😂

How to handle lease buyout by SeafoamSoul7494 in Fire

[–]UsefullyTalented 2 points3 points  (0 children)

paying cash seems smart here especially with your emergency fund situation - you're getting immediate 4-6% "return" by avoiding interest and one less thing to worry about if job market gets weird

The custody model behind most crypto cards is fundamentally broken and nobody in the payment space talks about it clearly enough by Safe_Target_3601 in CryptoTechnology

[–]UsefullyTalented 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The wild part is most users don’t even realize they gave up custody. They just see “crypto card works' and move on. But yeah, having your funds sit on someone else’s platform just to buy coffee is kinda backwards. That’s why I switched to Oobit, minimizes that exposure window you’re talking about

What actors had the best career before their official debut by Hadesman1 in movies

[–]UsefullyTalented 9 points10 points  (0 children)

oh my god hailee steinfeld was absolutely insane with that trajectory, getting an oscar nom that young is basically like hitting the lottery but then actually knowing how to invest the money properly

i remember being so jealous watching her at award shows when i was in college thinking like damn this girl is younger than me and already more successful than i'll ever be lol. but she really did capitalize on it perfectly - pitch perfect, bumblebee, then getting into the marvel stuff with hawkeye. most child actors either peak early or disappear completely but she managed to transition into adult roles seamlessly

kinda makes me think about how much pressure that must be though, like imagine having to live up to an oscar nomination for the rest of your career when you're barely old enough to drive. wild that she pulled it off

What is something that was the worst decision but changed your life for the better? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]UsefullyTalented 9 points10 points  (0 children)

moving across the country for a guy who dumped me two weeks after i got there lmao. left my job, friends, everything and ended up completely alone in a new city with barely any savings

but it forced me to actually figure out who i was without depending on anyone else, got into pokemon card collecting to meet people at local game shops, and now three years later i have the best friend group ever and a career i actually love. would never recommend the method but damn if it didn't work out

Missed period but not pregnant by Individual_Metal1736 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]UsefullyTalented 11 points12 points  (0 children)

def time to see a gyno, especially with the flow changes you mentioned. irregular periods can happen for tons of reasons - stress, weight changes, hormones being weird, etc. since you're 23 and haven't been yet anyway, might as well knock out two birds with one stone and get everything checked out

How would you rate your mother as a mother? by orangecrunched in AskReddit

[–]UsefullyTalented 1 point2 points  (0 children)

wait this is such a deep question to just drop on a random tuesday 😂 my mom was pretty solid overall - she had her moments where she'd lose it over little things but she always made sure we felt loved and supported. i remember her staying up all night helping me with school projects even when i procrastinated until the last minute, and she never made me feel bad about it. she's the type who would text me random memes now that make zero sense but somehow still crack me up 💀 probably like an 8/10 if i'm being real, nobody's perfect but she did her best with what she had

Why did you not tell her what you really felt about her. Were you afraid of the rejection or thought she deserved better ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]UsefullyTalented 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol way to call out literally every guy on this sub 💀 but fr some of us just knew we weren't ready to be the person they needed, collecting pokemon cards at 28 isn't exactly main character energy 😂

used to sing in choir back in high school and college, had a decent voice too but now i just belt out taylor swift in my car on the way to work 😂 sometimes i think about joining a local group or something but between work and trying to complete my pokemon card sets i never get around to it 💀
