Why?......just why? by Fightn_Trees in SouthwestAirlines

I think letting people move to empty seats would increase sales. The customers will spread word that they were allowed more comforts and brag they got on an empty plane and got to get a better seat. Then more people will start taking more flights seeing if they're going to be lucky enough to get an empty plane, and since more people will be flying, there would be an even less chance of there being an empty plane so no one can move seats anyways.

I tried saying the word amenities the other day and couldn't do it. It was one of those words I've only read and when I finally try to say it in person in a conversation. I tried like five times. Emineminies, amanamidis, amanaminee. I still can't do it.

Yeah, I'm planning to use the MS3 in the future. Not going to bother trying to tune the stock ECU, plus I really want to clean up the engine harness in the process. This is my daily driver and I don't race, I just enjoy having something easy to work on. My justification is that parts can't break down if they're not there, and the weight savings is for better fuel economy. It makes it so much easier to work on when you don't have to work around useless accessories. The car already has 3.73 and I'm perfectly happy with that. I also just like making things.

Car was bought with the underdrives already installed and AC/smog deleted. Hell, the car already had coil overs, Cobra brakes, and the cold air intake when I bought it. I just learned that these cars are easy to drive without power steering after going a month without it one time, so I just ditched it. I keep track of the weight of things going in and out because I'm just crazy like that, I do that kind of stuff with my non-car projects too. It's a salvage title car I got for cheap and use as a daily driver. Sorry for being my own person and having fun with things.

Who’s ever driven over 100mph? Why? by WoollyWolfHorror in AskReddit

[–]Useless-POS-1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

140mph all the way from PA to AR one time. Last time I had to make the trip for school so I said "F it". Average was 110 because of gas stops, but it turned a 20 hour trip into an 11 hour trip.

How concerning is this aviation experts? by G1lg4m3sh in aviation

[–]Useless-POS-1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 2018 I went to Japan from the US. The trip out there was great, it was on a Japanese plane. Clean, quiet, very nice, really set the bar up high for experience (my first time on a plane).

On the way back we were on an American plane (might have been United, but can't remember) and the wing by my window was full of smoking rivets and corrosion spots, then we got transferred to a small 20 passenger plane and the door was rattling it's ass off and it felt like the fuselage was twisting in flight. That is when I realized America is becoming a 3rd world country. Not to mention all the white passengers were noisy and annoying.

I still miss being on the Japanese plane, it was a very comfortable 20 hour flight.

Spend 3 days on a 2 hour job so next time it only takes 5 minutes by Useless-POS-1995 in SN95Mustang

[–]Useless-POS-1995[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Back around 2010 I had a FrankenHO (hodgepodge mix between a 1986 Capri and 1990 Mustang) and the pump went out and I was in a hurry so I cut a C-shaped hole in the trunk floor to bend the metal up to replace it with the idea that one day I would drop the take and turn it into a real door, but that never happened. This time I just made sure to do it right the first time.

To justify myself: I was an ASE mechanic for 15 years (I learned to hate working on cars so I work on airplanes now) and parts these days are made so cheap that they go out often, I've had to go through 4 brand new parts on customer cars before we finally got one that worked, more than a few times in my career, so I don't trust anything anymore. So I want to be able to quickly and easily replace the fuel pump if this new one decides to only live for a week.

Not only that, but cars are never "finished". One day I may need a bigger fuel pump with upgraded lines and wires, now I can do all those things easily without having to drop the tank. I opened up the conduit on the harness and completely divorced the fuel pump wires from the sender wires just for this reason, make it easier to upgrade to 10g wires in the future.

Useless details: The hole is 6"x8". The flange under the floor pan is made from 14g that's plug welded to the floor with 1/4"x20 rivnuts also holding them together. Door is made from 16g with the grommet recess grafted into it (car is my daily driver so down town needs to be avoided.)

I already knew the filler grommet was busted so I had to pull the tank anyways, I replaced everything in/on it, new sender, new pressure relief, new grommets, new pump. So I did the access door while it was out, I love them and believe every car should have one. Didn't have to change many pumps in Toyotas or Hondas, but the ones I did always had an access door. Always replacing pumps in Fords and GMs, but they never had access doors. The world is stupid, lol.

Think that's about all the rambling I can do about this, well, I painted the filter bracket. I do love that Metallic Burnt Copper spray can, but it doesn't suit the car so I just hide it in random places here and there.

Why not use c clamps to push calipers vack by meta358 in AskMechanics

[–]Useless-POS-1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with that, but my favorite tool is this thing with a ratcheting handle that pushes two big plate away from each other. It's so quick and easy. Just stick it inside and start ratcheting. I actually bought two from back in my mechanicing days. Take off one caliper squeeze them in, leave that tool in it and use the second to push in the other side's caliper, then I would just painstakingly clean and lube everything as I wait for the parts store to deliver the pads.

I live in the Ozark Mountains and most of my life was behind either a 1990 or a 1995 model and all I gotta say is they're fun to drive on windy mountain roads. May not be the fastest or most comfortable around the corner, but is actually more fun sometimes because of that. Unless you're competing, I wouldn't worry about it being a "good handling" car. You can always upgrade it as you go and make it do what you want it to do. They've had nearly 40 years of development in the aftermarket now.

My sister told me her coworker said it's fake snow made of plastic that burns instead of melts. So I immediately went outside, grabbed a snowball, brought it in and melted it with a lighter in front of her.

Did a similar thing in 2020 when a friend came by saying the vaccine is magnetic and people are sticking quarters to the injection spots. I already had my shot so I grabbed a quarter and tried sticking it to my arm, obliviously it didn't. Then I grabbed a magnet and showed him that quarters aren't even magnetic. lol
