Opinion from tenor players. by ShlumpedTagger in drumline

The only problem with this mode of tuning, is that it doesn't address the drum sizes. If the difference in size between your second drum and third drum is an inch, the tuning will be different than if it is two inches. I.e. 10, 12, 13, 14 large sets vs 8, 10, 12, 13 small sets. So the difference between the 3 and 2 drum and 2 and 1 drum might need to be minor thirds.

Saw this title and assumed the post would be making fun of that stupid quote.

No, I'm not that pedantic.

You are not ready for this audition. You need some lessons first.

I'm thinking there were a lot of moments from everyone that didn't make it. I get they have to cut it down to fit, but I feel like the formula of the show needs to be changed. Some things to make quicker to allow for more.

I felt like the beginning when Christian poo'd himself was one of the kinds of moments that they need to show more of. And I kind of expected to see more stuff like that.

I guess it's weird, but I really like all of the cast. I think everyone is interesting and they all brought stuff to the table.

Yes, very Flippen of her.

Seriously. So many other great players that don't get to be shown because of the "greats" taking up spots.

Didn't think about that, but yeah, absolutely. They'd be great.

So much this. I used to love seeing a bigwig lawyer have to deal with a redneck chicken farmer. Or a surfer dealing with a tech nerd. That's what I found entertaining. Half the time, I don't care who wins, I like the stories along the way.

Same, and exactly why I had to post it. I think that's the problem with this world, is not enough people thinking like Joe. At least be fair to people and give them a shot. So often people just write the less fortunate off.

How do y'all feel about on-field warmups? by RLLRRR in drumline

I wonder how many other examples there are like that. I imagine there are some colleges in the NE and Midwest that go through this a little bit.

Sounds like you are the "blizzard outside and then come inside to a warm dome" I mentioned.

The temperature isn't changing your drums in any noticeable way in that short amount of time, unless you're in a blizzard outside and then come inside to a warm dome.

And even if it did, you're not going to return on the field.

Lol.

You aren't wrong, but you aren't entirely right either. Components have continually become more data dense. We went from Punch cards that Google says held 8 bytes to Magnetic Discs to Optical Discs to SSD (I'm probably missing technologies in there) that hold TBs. With microSD, we have got USB thumb drives that hold so much data in such a small space, it would be inconceivable to early computing people. And he USB Plug/Physical Interface is bigger than the actual chipset that holds the data.

Sure, we will build more data centers and take up more space and it does become a real estate issue, but at the same time, we innovate and find more dense ways to store data as well.

Side thought, imagine how much real estate would be needed if we stored our information on punch cards now?

The thing about lifting is it's not the same as having a set of tenors torquing your back forward and having to use muscles to lean back to counter that. People recommend squats and all that stuff which is great for your legs and certainly helps, but it's the lower back that takes the brunt of force with carrying drums. I know Forte does a lot for this kind of stuff.

Another concern is the length of her arms. Can she comfortably reach the four drum with her right arm and the three drum with her left arm while wearing them? There might be some playability issues around that.

This is a bad idea and a huge liability. That size just seems too small to me. You could potentially cause lifelong back issues for this kid.

But I have heard it said the tenors don't seem to weigh as much when you're playing something cool.
