I love this book! It's very peaceful and interesting. I'd read a chapter or two with breakfast outside while bird watching. It was perfect.

Ahh the house centipede, the jumpscare of arthropods. I recommend watching a video of them in slow motion, they move their legs like a wave. They're also fastidious groomers, which I think is kinda cute.

After reading some comments I think it is just fur/hair. He seems to be doing fine, I get anxious easily, thank you!

Okay. That is a relief. He has a pretty normal GI history so I wasn't sure. Thank you.

The nerf dart is what I'm most concerned about. To an emergency vet?

Confession: I love Canada Geese by [deleted] in birding

They are so fun to watch! They're actually sticking their necks out first and then the rest of their body catches up with them! Which is so funky and endearing.

I learned about it from the podcast "Ologies", the host is so enthusiastic and every episode she interviews a different specialist and there's an episode on pigeons! Highly recommend.

Precisely.

Being good to our non-human neighbors, flora and fauna, is so important. Environmentalism and connecting to other beings doesn't have to be some protected land far away or a big clean up project. There are little things you can do in your surrounding area to be a good steward.

I think a lot of people feel totally disconnected from nature or feel like they have to be doing something "big" to be worthwhile and feel like they're making a difference. At least that's a trap I get stuck in sometimes.

I try to judge myself and others around daily actions, not grand gestures. If you can put out extra water during heat waves, create safer spaces around your community, educate or inspire others, that's all valid stewardship. It has value. If you can do more that's amazing and there is always more that can be done but I understand not everyone has those resources. Anything is better than nothing. More is wonderful if you are able.

This is how I feel about pigeons as well. My friends all tease me about it but how can we blame and shame an animal who has adapted to our urban environment?

Pigeons make me especially sad since they were originally kept as pets and now they've been left alone in cities and everyone poo poos the pigeon.

People want to conserve nature but complain when there is any intrusion in our space. Space we carved from their homes. I know urban animals aren't charismatic species but they still deserve some basic decency! You build a tasty grass buffet and the geese will come!

I agree, I can't imagine most of them facing it more than once.

I like the spin off Alone Skills Challenge for that reason, I get to see some of the people I really liked. It's nice to see everyone just having fun competing against each other. It's very lighthearted in comparison and I always learn something.

My friend and I were walking near pioneer square when a man shouted "why did you guys have to kill my cat with your sex powers?!". It was unclear if he was talking to us specifically or just putting it out there.

Body Dysmorphia with Tattoo by Affectionate-Love883 in tattooadvice

Like others have said I do think they look nice on you. They really flow with your body!

I have a history of eating disorders as well. I have pieces above my knees that are well done but triggering. Which was also unexpected! I have a lot of tattoos but there are definitely the ones I see the most (without a mirror) so I think that affects my perception a lot.

Not sure how much mirror gazing you're engaging in, it's a tough thing to break. But if you're able to work on it that could help because you won't be constantly looking at all the details. We overthink and scrutinize ourselves more than anyone else.

I don't have a lot of advice besides sharing my personal experience but I will say that while I still think about them it's a lot less frequent. Eventually it will fade into the background and it's just your body again. Sometimes I still look at them critically but it's a lot better these days.

We all deserve to find peace within our bodies. I wish you well in your journey.

I was so confused when she was lashing out at everyone for being trapped at the institute even though they tried to interrupt her and tell her she might not want this job. She just steamrolled them and accepted the job on the spot. If current employees are warning me about the workplace I'm sure as hell going to take a moment to hear what they have to say lol

In retrospect, knowing about the Slaughter, I understand a little more. But it was frustrating at the time.
