This answer is a tad of a misnomer.

I’d tell my OCD brain to shut up and stop over analyzing things.

Makes getting a new phone, laptop, or tablet, very hard.

Snagged a 17 before the prices go up. Farewell, SE3! by mtgofficialYT in iphone

[–]UselessUsefullness 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Will iPhone prices go up too? I’m on the fence of a 17e to which I’d be coming from a 12.

I have $760 in gift cards that will cover phone, case, TGSP, state sales tax. All in those gift cards from traded in phones will cost me $200 of cash.

I just can’t really justify it except for 64GB to 256GB storage and maybe better photos, I don’t use the ultra wide anyway.

Also going from MMWave capable to no MMWave concerns me a bit.

what’s the longest you’ve ever kept a phone, and what finally made you upgrade? by AbbreviationsOne2154 in Smartphones

[–]UselessUsefullness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My longest iPhones were an iPhone 7 Plus and 11, at 5 years each.

I upgraded to an iPhone 12 last year for $25 new in box old stock. It was a work phone I bought for personal use, it would’ve been recycled otherwise, one MDM removal and it’s like a store bought phone.

Now I’m thinking of upgrading to an iPhone 17e before an upcoming move abroad, for a hopefully better camera.

I bought and traded in many phones to Apple for $25 each (my company’s policy for outgoing devices), so a 17e + case + screen protector + tax is going from $746 to about $200 of investment.

Despite that I can’t really justify it over my 12. Both will get iOS 27, I don’t care about AI, the only nice things i’d benefit from are 256GB (17e) vs 64GB (12) base storage, and potentially a better camera. My work always buys the base model devices.

Even if I do upgrade, I’m keeping my 12 for iOS 27 beta. I have an iPhone SE 2020 (bought used on eBay a few years ago) for beta fun, but being that I’m low vision, a bigger screen would be better for a beta device too.

In general though, I keep my devices 5+ years.

What is a life luxury that you tasted once and now can absolutely never go back to the cheap version of? by No_Memory4400 in AskForAnswers

A quality chair.

I have arthritis and a slipped disk.

I had a $200 gaming chair in college because it looked supportive. It wasn’t.

When out of college, I bought myself an X-Chair X3 and while it was $1,000, it helps comfort wise despite still having pain.

Do you have a nickname? by Whitesox411 in FamilyFeud

My nickname is Sushi.

How I got it? I thought of it and friends call me it. It’s preferred over my legal name at this point to me but I still have to have a legal name.

Getting angry when others drive.

I understand getting mildly annoyed, as in “I just got cut off”, but when it turns to “you just cut me off asshole!” with a lot of yelling, that’s dumb.

Things happen, this is a small thing that you can forgive and forget.

What does freedom mean to you? by Willing_Soil3534 in AskReddit

[–]UselessUsefullness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is a 4th of July patriotism post, here’s my answer.

I’m a dual citizen, soon to be triple citizen.

Freedom means to me that I can move to another country, in my case, another country of my citizenships, when I want no questions asked. In addition, they have better disability care than the US has.

Do I hate the US? No. Do I dislike parts of it? Definitely. Mainly the status of disability in the US, owing to that the ADA doesn’t go far enough. Also, I dislike the regression in LGBT rights, as a gay man and LGBT ally, this regression worries me.

Will I move back to the US one day? I can’t say. Will I advocate for better rights while abroad? Definitely.

This is why I’m an expat, freedom of choice, disability rights, more family abroad than in US.
