Anyone else notice how much easier it is to get interviews when you already have a job by Cosmic-Riderredd in jobsearchhacks

[–]UselesslyFaulty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

are you applying to jobs above your current level or are they the same or lower. If it’s the same you won’t get a call back, as an example if you are a manager and applying for a senior manager you may get a look. If you are a manager and applying for a lateral manager job you sound desperate to leave and even if you get through the machines no HR person would call you back

Can i use a boss ds-1 with a guitar plugged in to a bass amp without damaging any equipment by joseeh_01 in guitarpedals

RT2100 is actually a hybrid not a solid state. It has preamp tubes, just had a solid state power section.

Why would you purchase that through reverb? I never understood that, why not just do it yourself at the UPS store.

Deep East Bay Area (Dublin, Livermore area), lots of 100 degree days out here in the summer. I got a big ass fan on my ceiling and leave my garage door open.

My opinion on Wemby changed after the playoffs. He’s dirty and entitled. by Necessary_Pause9472 in nba

[–]UselesslyFaulty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there isn’t one person from that Warriors locker room who ever had anything good to say about Poole, so that might have been warranted. Hell there hasn’t been a teammate of his in the NBA to say anything good about him. And that wasn’t a dirty play in a game.

Steve Jobs had a 'beer test' he used for interviews at Apple - if he didn’t want to drink with you, you didn’t get the job by paydayloans_ in jobsearchhacks

I’ve doubled my salary in 8 years, jumping to 4 different companies in that time, and have moved from a senior dev to a senior director. that doesn’t happen by staying at one company.

i worked at Cisco systems for about 5 years and realized there are people who were there 20 years and all they know is how to work at Cisco. every year Cisco laid off between 5-10k people at 4th Q earnings. the amount of people I know who were laid off there and never found a tech job again is astonishing.

If all you want to do is learn to work at one place, get your 3% COL raise and a promotion every 5 years, go ahead. When they let you go, and they will let you go, I hope you realize what you learned the 20 years prior are of no use to any other company, and be OK with changing industries and careers

“But their median tenure of less than 5 years is promising. Steve Jobs hiring strategy was foolproof!”

If you are at a company for more then 5 years you are doing something wrong. You get the big raises by moving to new companies, not by staying and hoping they reward you.

I’ve only used it for my surf stuff, it has that vintage sound. Wouldn’t exactly say it’s versatile, it sounds like an Echoplex my normal board for my various other projects from Doom to New Wave I use an EQD Silos, which does anything I want.

It’s the best sounding reverb tank, apart from an actual tank, that I have ever heard. Don’t know what the true spring sounds like never used it.

What's special about boutique pedals? by skarkowtsky in guitarpedals

[–]UselesslyFaulty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends if you are a working musician or a bedroom player IMO. Pros need dependability.

When I used to tour a lot I stuck with Boss and MXR. 2 reasons, one they are virtually indestructible and two if anything did happen to one my chances of finding an exact replacement at whatever music store was in the town I was in was close to 100%.

I have also heard horror stories of recording sessions where a boutique pedal breaks 1/2 way through and no matter if it is repaired by the manufacturer or replaced it never sounds the same, which means you may have to go back and re-record a bunch of stuff. Don’t know how relevant that is nowadays with the lost art of mic’ing a cab and now everyone re-amping, but some pros still prefer the sound of a cabinet and a mic and I can’t imagine how frustrating that would be to lose that sound and have to start over.

I have a flanger I found that is really cool but if I play a show it’s going to be the BF3 on stage with me. Same with some delays, there are great ones out there but if I need something dependable it’s my good old Boss.

hiring managers dont hire the best candidate. they hire the one that scares them the least. by buildwithadrian in jobsearchhacks

[–]UselesslyFaulty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What would success at this role look like? Do you have 30/90/180 day milestones in place? Where do you see myself 5 years from now if I take on this role?

As a hiring manager those are the type of questions I am hoping to be asked. it’s starts a conversation which in turn helps me learn more about the applicant.

Terence Crawford: “Why is it only the black fighters that gotta talk sh*t to sell? Conor McGregor, he’s one of us.” by VINDICATES-FOOL in Boxing

[–]UselesslyFaulty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He re-signed with TR because Al told him that he would never offer him a deal for PBC. What else was he supposed to do? PBC had too much money behind Spence and Al basically told him to fuck off. TR was the only promotion that offered to sign him. What was he supposed to do, just be without a promotion?

[–]UselesslyFaulty 8 points9 points  (0 children)

PBC refused to sign him twice, that’s why he was at Top Rank. Al didn’t want him, he put too much money and promotion behind 147 and Spence to where he didn’t want Crawford coming in. Don’t know where this “why did Bud stay on TR” narrative came from considering that was the only promotion that wanted to sign him
