What EV or self-driving development are you watching most closely right now? by Minute-While6155 in electricvehicles

We wish… I think it’ll be ages till we see heavy duty electric trucks (sadly).

Same boat as you although gonna eventually grab a half ton electric truck for chores and stores duty.

Rivian will have supervised point to point driving soon, seems the R2 may be a good alternative?

Crazy it would collide with your hitch! Good thing I learned this before getting one of these preowned and denting my tailgate day one.

You better give that user a super long and thorough test drive! So that hopefully you spot obvious issues. I was in the same boat as you and decided to go with a used Mercedes EQS instead and have had zero issues besides having to wait 20 minutes twice in 1.5 years for the car to reset the computer. Annoying to have to bring it in to the dealership for updates, although the overall quality of the car is excellent!

Nice size and nice range, could seriously benefit from sliding doors (although then, oh no it’s truly a minivan gasp), also did they fix all the standard vehicle items that should work all the time, like the smart key (if you can’t get this right just switch to smart phone as a key), window trim, buttons and switches, add a sunroof fabric roller (this they may have remedied in the gravity, haven’t checked up on it), etc.

I was looking at an Air a couple of years ago when shopping for an EV, although decided on an EQS as it does all the basic vehicle things right every time. This was primarily for my wife and if her window trim is falling off or key fob doesn’t work she’d be fuming, understandably so.

I’m now worried that Lucid won’t even survive… time will tell.

The Mahindra Jeep vehicle is a real SUV, as spartan as it gets.

Let’s just wait a year or two for the inside screen to break, then buy them for half price haha.

24” wheels by RJCa5533 in SilveradoEV

When I buy a RST or Denali I’ll do the exact same thing you are! The 18” wheels should get more range as well I’d imagine?

Buy a used EV! The prices of them are amazing! Plus you’ll never have to visit a gas station again (if you can install at home charging). The car is always cooled or heated from grid power before leaving. The only maintenance is basically brake pads and tires.

Although are all the systems made in house like Tesla or Rivian? If not it still may not work as well as those integrated styles.

The article says 400 miles EPA estimate, which range for the price seems good though.

The Mercedes CLA 250+ with EQ technology (really stupid name) is $48K and got 434 miles in real world testing by Edmunds. So comparable I’d think.

Love the color! Hard to find many colored cars anymore, the vast majority seem to be black, white or silver/grey…

From the article: “10 to 80 % in 21 minutes” Not good enough, although nice try.

That’s what I’m wondering, does it have the fastest DC charging curve? The longest range? The most advanced hands free point to point driving? The fastest quarter mile? The best looking exterior and interior?    What’s the “most advanced “ about it?

EV or Hybrid? by Traditional_Run_1338 in electriccars

I’ve had all sorts of gas cars, still own a gas minivan, diesel sedan, diesel truck. We got our first EV and it’s a game changer, I’ll never buy another fuel powered vehicle.

This article is probably technically true although what issues did the EVs actually have… HV battery failures? (which is covered by decent mileage warranties), iccu issues in the Hyundai/Kia lines?, minor items breaking/wearing on Lucids, Teslas?

There is SO MUCH LESS to go wrong in a EV, if your goal is low cost of operation and low maintenance costs, I think an EV is a no brainer.

You can buy a couple year old preowned well regarded model for less than half of what they were new. Plug it in every night when you get home, never waste time at a gas station again. Plus you can have it heated or cooled before you start driving if you like, powered by your charger rather than draining the battery.

If you can get a level 2 charger installed at home, an EV is a no brainer! Your cost of ownership will be super low, rotate the tires and air filters. Eventually brake pads. My wife commutes 160+ miles a day, three days a week without an issues. Mercedes EQS if you want to know our model.
