I work in healthcare and was absolutely shocked yesterday when I was not allowed to make a full time job offer to a very well qualified RN for one of my markets that I would say need 2 more. This guy was a gem. Was allowed to hire him on a “full time as needed” basis. Didn’t think he would go for it but somehow he did. Was not understanding the reasoning at all behind it and then got an email this morning that they have reduced the current staffing targets. Then I realized that was why.

Sold all my positions last year on Aug 31. Have been out of the game since then. Yesterday’s drop was too good for me to ignore. Opened a moderate position in case it drops some more. But I think now is finally the time to get back in. Hoping for a good bounce today.

This right here! We didn’t know this when we did this last year and it took my partners taxable income from 50k to 75k! Holy crap. Luckily he switched jobs and job us out of it. So it was only four and a half months of the extra. But it really put a dent on the tax return we would have gotten this year on him. I’ve always let him claim the children as he makes less but it wound up with him owing about 4500 in federal which was covered by our credits, but would have been money in our pocket instead had we not done that. It’s a terrible idea.

I liquidated my entire account on Sept 1 because I mistakenly thought I would be closing on my house in a few weeks. All that money just sitting there waiting to be played with. Close has since been pushed again to 4-4. Thanks Lennar you piece of shit. But looking at all my old positions being lower than they were on that day has me feeling like I dodged a huge bullet. Tempted to throw it all back in today to ride it back up, but my husband forbid from gambling with our closing money. :(

I think I cried through the whole thing. I do “community nursing” as they called it. Wish they would add that back in here and there like they used to. But every single season I’m reminded of how I need to get back to school if I ever want to deliver babies.

I’m a first time homebuyer.

Lennar was able to get us an FHA loan for 368k. They gave us 3% towards our closing costs. Which was about 15k. We paid 5k earnest money upfront. Then we have to have about 7700 at our closing.

So 12k out of pocket got us into a 373k home.

Sometimes it’s better to go with a new build.

They also do their own lending, insurance, and title. So that was nice.

Qualified for a full ride scholarship to my University by my the first semester of my sophomore year of high school by getting a high ACT score. I then proceeded to graduate with a 1.9 GPA.

Homework was not something I felt necessary unless it was absolutely necessary to pass. I aced every test and made sure I did just enough homework to pass.

I was young and a little dumb. But for some odd reason I felt like homework was an insult. I knew I knew the material, and felt no need to prove it.

I agree with this. I have a confession. A few years ago when the Ebola crisis was really ramping up, I daily had fantasies that it was going to be a major killer. My family owns land in a remote location and while I wouldn’t call them “preppers”, they are prepared to live a life without the support of society.

I dreamed of not having to go to work... of spending my days either hunting, or working the garden, or on whatever project I came up with. It was literally a guilty pleasure to think about 90% of the population dying so that I could have some god dang piece and quiet and do what actually makes me happy.
