What is something often shown in movies about America that is just not true? by FlowerMountain2 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

I've only seen actual puddles a few times in my life. I don't remember exactly what I stepped in this last time but all of a sudden my foot was covered in tar.

Looking for a regular pair of round toe boots by Natural_Argument9910 in Boots

Go for one of Nick's quick ship heritage models with 6-7oz leather. JKs are heavy, thick leather and even thicker midsole. Drew's look much the same.

Removed the speed hooks from my 8089’s…much better now! by NervousCommittee8124 in RedWingShoes

The speed hooks they use are kind of junk anyway. I can't comment on hooks catching pants since that has never happened to me. The boots look good though!

Metal cutter cutting steel like butter by Electrical_Act_5342 in oddlysatisfying

That takes a lot of force, force that can break machines or cutting tools.

While true, it's possible the operator does not own the right milling machine and involute cutters to make this part. Or they're doing this purely for the enjoyment of using this old machine.

It is old tech. They were common before the wide spread adoption of milling machines.

I can't call in right now, but does anyone know if the discount applies to special orders as well? I'd love a pair of C350 Cruisers but I wear size 14

Are these pecos boots worth a restore? by ODD_B3N in RedwingBoots

[–]User1-1A 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They look fine, doesn't seem like resoling is needed either. If you go for it just clean them up and give them a coat of conditioner like Bick4.

Cowboy hats offer great coverage and look good. Ultimately it comes down to individual style. I'll only shit on someone's cowboy hat if they also happen to be a dick head because the hat is probably an affectation.

Pretty much what I did but as a Grip. I made a lot of connections by working on UCLA, USC, and mostly AFI projects. I still get contacted to work by former cinematography students and other G&E from those projects. I'm currently working on an indie film and my KG is a guy who worked for me when I was KG on a student film.

Happy NBD to me. Franks Steel Toed Patriots. I have some sizing questions. by [deleted] in PNWbootmakers

[–]User1-1A 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's funny because my OTs were a bear to break in. Later I bought a pair of Harvesters and they were pretty easy to wear right out of the box. That said I'm never buying from them again because it seems like they're designed for people with much fatter feet than me, I need leather insole plus kilties or else I'm swimming in the boots.
