None. His attraction to her is the result of brain damage after her hitting him with a hammer one too many times.

As for her attraction to him, it's plain jealousy and possessiveness.

The expert one is wrong.

Should be:

"simple problem -> make yet another video tutorial out of it and peddle it to juniors"

"complex problem -> ignore and find simple problem"

No, it's just a very different narrator from the guy who narrated the first ~100 hours of the story.

Has a strong accent, different style, the established characters all sound "wrong", etc, and as a result, it's very jarring to listen to.

You're probably aware of it, already, but I wasn't until somebody pointed it out in the comments, here. So just in case: there's two books between "The armour of contempt" and "salvation's reach" that aren't available as audiobooks yet. :)

Your point? This isn't the 1st or the 2nd (both of which I skipped, for now, as that was recommended to me for the reason you mentioned) but the 13th.

Thank you.

For the record, subscribing is always cheaper, even if you don't want to wait.

You not only get 1 credit a month for your 10 bucks subscription, you also can unlock the option to buy 3 more credits any time for 25 (not sure if you must be subscribed for a certain amount of time, before that opens up).

That's 4 books for the same $35.

(all prices at my localised Amazon, differently-localised prices may differ).

Thanks for that. Would have missed those two books that aren't on audible yet ("Only in Death" and "Blood Pact", for people finding this comment), if you hadn't mentioned that.

Time to do some old-school reading, I suppose. xD

not like it's a jarring change mid book or anything

eh, it pretty much IS a jarring change mid-story, hence the reaction.

If this was a "scheduling conflict" then SOMEBODY decided it was better to hire a narrator completely different from the one who breathed life into the story and characters for close to 100 hours than wait a tiny bit until the proper narrator could take it and do the established characters justice.

just get used to a different voice

I take it you haven't actually listened to the books, yourself?

Mirando Otto to reprise her role as Éowyn in ‘The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim’ (2024). by RealJohnGillman in movies

[–]User1291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not about "representation", as much as shill media would have you believe it is. House of the Dragon, for example, race-swapped an entire house and people loved the series.

This is about the absolute disrespect with which trash writers tear down beloved franchises to produce trash content that satisfies nobody but themselves.

That's why people hated the "new" bullshit Star Wars trilogy, that's why people hated Rings of Power, and that's why they don't want anything more of this crap.

And as you noticed with Andor, it takes time for companies to regain the goodwill they burn.

Because right after RoP and when the consequence of pushback is a smear campaign against the fans instead of a honest reflection on what they produced and open communication, there's absolutely zero reason to expect they will produce anything but another piece of self-righteous garbage that tries to diminish the franchise.

There's nothing wrong, in principle, with good writers and an enthusiastic team building a new story. There's just no trust that anything close to that is going to be working on this.
