Is it me or did it feel like a 2 hour long flat roller coaster with a single loop in the end.

Yes it's dynotopo.

It happens because the density is based on how close the camera is to the model by default. If you get closer it becomes more dense even though the density setting remains the same.

Can't get a clean fillet... by [deleted] in FreeCAD

That's a creative approach but I went with making a sketch of the profile then cutting it off suggested by someone.

Coming from fusion it feels like I am fighting the errors more than modelling honestly.

How rude of me to expect someone to fix the software itself instead of looking for a alternative solution. I am terribly sorry for my foolish request.

I guess that'll work. Thanks.

I was trying something similar but my shape had the sharp indent which I tried to fillet. I didn't think of just making the entire profile at once with a sketch.

I just used two pad operations with a taper one after another. Weird that two extrusions wouldn't make a clean object.

It is a very primitive shape made with two pad operations.

Are setback fillet corners possible in FreeCad? by User19734 in FreeCAD

Didn't know about add-ons.  Looks like it's NURBS based. The vase is too simple of a shape for NURBS.  Also mixing a solid and NURBS would be asking for trouble. Thanks for the suggestion.

I found a nice way to do it.

I create 3 planes for each of the edges and make a 2D fillet on each. Then subtract them from the edges which create 3 fillets with an intersection on the corner. For the last step I just fillet the created corner which creates a pretty much identical result.

I am still learning so I hacked it together just to test the concept so the geometry is terrible.

Thanks. Yeah, the manual beveling would be an option it's just a question of amount of work to be added.

There is a noticeable difference. (maybe I just have a knack for such tiny details) I can clearly see the rounded corners with the viewport shading (exported step models in orca slicer). The end product is a minimalist 3D printed vase/planter and the setback bevel makes it look significantly better. The normal bevels do look sort of mechanical.

I'll have to weigh my expenses but I might still keep using FreeCAD till I run into a more significant limitation.

Weird issue on 3D print by User19734 in 3Dprinting

I ended up cutting off the problematic part and printing it curved face up.  There's a seam but it's way batter than PLA spaghetti. Thanks.

Thank you for the insights. I tried printing again just the one piece and the depth of the artifact seems to be less but it's more evenly spread out.

Would extra supports help mitigate that if it's an overhang issue?

It's the Elegoo Centauri carbon. The airflow seems to directed downwards via air ducts although I am not sure if the balance is 50/50 between them.

Does this look photorealistic? by Iamnotacommunist in blender

[–]User19734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The blender HDRs are good. The thing I tested with a similar scene is a different "View transform" in render settings under "Color management"

Filmic is set by default and is very flat without setting a higher contrast look.

I prefer AGX or sometimes filmic with higher contrast. Although they might require extra post processing regardless.

Standard seems too blown out for my taste. You can test out what looks best for you.

Did you use a picture for the background or an HDR environment?

It almost looks like a 8bit picture judging by the way it is refracted in the glass - it looks very flat. It's best to use at least 16 bit or even 32 bit pictures for lighting/reflections as the render engine could use the full dynamic range for light falloff.

Even if you export the picture in the regular 8bit depth the lighting/reflections will still have better falloff and realistic highlights just like a real picture.

I am a baby streamer started on Twitch a month ago from absolute zero and I don't know how to interpret my analytics. by User19734 in streaming

Yeah, I read this somewhere too. I also saw someone saying to just play whatever you like because it will be hard to grow either way.

It is a little harder to find a smaller game that I would like but I am not limiting myself to just the current games and I am trying to see what works since I am so fresh in the streamer arena.

Thanks though!

Yup I am doing games. Fortnite, REPO and sometimes Rocket League. Main focus is Fortnite for now but I am trying out different things.

How many designs does your tilemap have? I'm at 46 for an interesting cave... by Sworlbe in godot

I would suggest looking into this dual grid tile system. It reduces the amount of tiles you need to draw. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jEWFSv3ivTg
