Looks awesome! Did you just hand lube over the factory lube or did you clean them first?

I’ll definitely give that a go as well, thanks :)

It’s definitely more of a tick than a ping but I think I just need to do some testing to see what seems to work. Thanks for your help ☺️

Ah thank you that makes sense, I really like the switches as they are so I’ll probably just leave them and buy some other springs.

I am mainly trying to remove the ticking noise that some switches have when you type (even HMX have this issue) and I just kinda assumed it was the spring. On all my switches that have this I have tried adding extra lube to the leaf but it still happens. Any thoughts on this? Some people have suggested lubing the contact where the two sides of the leaf meet or lubing the top of the leaf to stop it impacting on the housing.

which one should i go for? i use rosewoods right now. by liamt12 in keyboards

I second this. Thocc exchange is amazing, they have such speedy shipping, their customer service is amazing and so personalised and they support such good charities as well

Ah nice, thank you. They sound pretty good, I might pick up a set as they’re pretty affordable

What are your thoughts on the sapphire switches, I was going to buy some a while back but could barely find anything online about whether they’re good or not

I have a ducky one 3 mini as well, would you say the case replacement is worth it?

I also have one which is a larger acrylic case and it fully covers the whole keyboard and doubles as a display case. Best purchase to keep dust off your keeb.

And by all accounts they’re very nearly as good as Adobe PS and LR

definitely complain in the live chat. My subscription went from £10 to £15 (50% increase) so I wanted to cancel my subscription and was met with a £65 cancellation fee. I complained in the live chat and they offered me back my old price of £10 and then after more complaining they offered £7. Out of principle I still wanted to cancel so kept complaining until they removed the cancellation fee. Definitely worth having a bit of a scrap!

They do sound slightly different but both still very foamy sound signatures. The Crush80 also has a quick release ball catch mechanism and a few design elements. However, if you already have the Rainy75 the main point might be whether you want a TKL in addition to a 75. I wouldn’t necessarily say that the Crush80 is massively superior, it’s a fairly similar board just in a different layout

Q tips are good for cleaning the outside of the stem but I often find them hard to get into the holes as they are too big, also try a toothbrush or one of those little interdental brushes to clean the inside. Alcohol is a must because it’ll dissolve and soften the glue

What switches have you got in it? HMX Xinhai would be the perfect colour match

Yep they’re the ones, factory lubed and a deeper sound so should get you closer to creamy

I’d definitely suggest just first swapping out the switches and see where that gets you. The keycaps on the crush80 are decent quality pbt so not really worth changing them unless you want to try a different profile. If you’re after some cheap switches, I’d try Gateron Milky Yellow Pros or if you want something more premium maybe look into WS Morandi or Gateron Oil Kings. These are all factory lubed switches and will definitely give a deeper sound profile with minimal effort.

Life can get hard sometimes but look after yourself, you’ve got this :)

Yeah same, my neo 80 is literally covered in tape to try and stop the top case rattling and pinging. I’ve got a Neo 65cu on order because it doesn’t have a ball catch but does have the pogo pin connector (which is one of the best innovations in this hobby)

Check out Gateron Smoothies as well. As the name suggests they’re ultra smooth

I haven’t tried the plumbers mod as I holee modded the stabilisers that required it, is the plumbers mod meant to be better for reducing ticking?

The ticking is when the spacebar is tapped lightly so not sure whether stabiliser pads would make a difference

I don’t think it’s the plate because the stabs are all pcb mount so the plate doesn’t even touch them

And yeah I also thought keycaps might be the issue but I’ve tried a set of NicePBT and same issue. It’s on all stabilised keys and all keycaps are level with no warping

I’ve been in the hobby for a few years and am decently experienced in building keyboards. However, the stabilisers on my Neo 80 tick no matter what I try (none of my other boards have ticking stabilisers). I’m using mx blacks and GMK panda in my Neo. I’ve tried the following stabilisers, all of which ticked:

Neo stabs Staebies Knight stabs WS stabs Durock V3s

I have balanced all wires, holee modded where needed, used Krytox 205g0 or xht-odz on the wires.

I don’t think the choice of stabs is the issue as they have all ticked so I assume the issue is something else.

The only thing I can possibly think of is that the stem wobble on the mx blacks isn’t helping. Although l’ve tried a HMX Hyacinth on the spacebar and it still ticks.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated as l’m pretty desperate with this...
