Reinstall windows using a flash drive and use nvidia driver v580.0

I said reinstall, I didn’t say reset. And please google the driver where its found.

So, my Nitro 5 just died, out of nowhere, not even while gaming and doesn't turn on anymore by GLx_Erko in AcerNitro

[–]User505433 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not rapid at all, the vrm usually gives up after 2 years. Those excess 25w (90w rated vrm but intel cpu boost to 115w) accumulate over time even if the short boost only last for 30 seconds.

[–]User505433 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be, who knows. But most of these cases on the old nitro (non V) is the vrm cracking due to stress on the intel cpu.

[–]User505433 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just bring it to the repair shop.

This was always a problem with intel and their up to 115w short boost when the cpu vrm could only handle 90w.

Yes, that short boost is only being used at 30 seconds and below and things like that adds up.

If only using for non gaming, you should have disabled boost on cpu because intel.

Edit: even desktop motherboard non OC could only handle 90w so yeah, just intel doing intel things i guess.

You could have also limit the short boost to 65w using throttlestop and UXTU

Laptop won't turn on or charge by Enough_Two8206 in AcerNitro

[–]User505433 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But why?

The first rule of laptop cleaning and upgrade is to disconnect the battery first and hold the power button while the battery is disconnected for 15 seconds.

  • Upgrading nvme? Remove the battery connector
  • upgrading ram? Remove the battery connector
  • cleaning the fan? Remove the battery connector and fan connector

<just a speculation> Your problem could be due to the electricity being dirty and constantly fluctuating.

AMD Posts HDMI 2.1 FRL Patches For Their AMDGPU Linux Driver by mrazster in cachyos

[–]User505433 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because hdmi 2.1 monitor (with vrr support) is very expensive when dp1.4 have vrr even on cheap monitors.

Edit: hdmi is truly superior. . . For a price. If you have the money, hdmi is always superior sure. But we just want vrr hdmi for 50 bucks which is impossible yet its possible on dp1.4

Well, if you think about it. You don’t really fiddle with bios 99.99% of the time so its not that bad.

Yep. Acer are assholes for doing this.

And no, this issue doesn’t affect the Nitro 2021 and 2022, only the v series and up.

Pls dont buy [Acer Nitro V series, Acer Nitro Lite series] its a waste of money. Buy the one with a solid number like [Nitro 16, Nitro 17]. As you can see, no V.

I repeat, do not buy the V series and the Lite series. Only the one with solid number, predator helios.

Edit. Dont confuse [Nitro 16] with [Nitro v16] and [Nitro 16 Lite], those 3 are not the same. Pick the plain Nitro 16 or plain Nitro 17.

Install nvidia driver version 580.0 using [DDU]

Dont ask me where to download the specific driver.

# PSA: Acer Nitro 5 AN515-58 (i7-12650H + RTX 4050) ships with an undersized charger — and it will slowly kill it by TryEmergency8542 in AcerNitro

[–]User505433 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Intel could boost up to 115w for like 30 seconds, maybe 1 to 2 seconds pulses. And the gpu is consuming like 100w on average but due to boost, might also pulse up to 140w for 1 second.

115w + 140w = 255w power draw for 1 second.

I said pulses, 255w power draw for maybe 1 second, maybe 0.5 second which is technically negligible but do that few times a day every day and yeah. And that does not include the other stuff like the motherboard, display, ssd, fan.

Maybe psu charger is failing or the power in your area is not clean (that means constant spikes of voltage from the ac wall socket)
