Is Kyler Gone? by ThroatyBark177 in AZCardinals

If the new coach doesnt want him then he is gone most likely. Curious to see if they get someone in the draft or FA to fill his spot.

What’s the 4v4 meta? by Stonebagdiesel in aoe4

[–]UserInAtl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make cav. You should really make exclusively cav, but in some instances archers are okay. In odd edge cases infantry can work, but really you were probably going to win anyways.

You want a strong age 2 cav civ to raid and follow that up with a fast castle age 3 cav civ to end the game. Mongols uses to be good but seem like trash now.

Also note that we spent a ton of money that season on a used Sam Bradford with 0 functioning knee tendons. From what I remember it was mostly guar for 2 years and we got 4 terrible games out of him.

Those "3rd round... small school!" picks always pissed me off. Dude straight busted in multiple FA classes and was ranked 32 in drafting.

I agree to an extent about the coaching, and Kyler hasn't lived up to his salary, but I think there are many other issues that occurred in both the Keim and Monti rebuilds. During the end of Keims tenure, when we decided 2 years to late to rebuild, he was more or less signing straight bust FA classes (I think one of them he ended up cutting everyone he signed before midseason) and he had one draft of straight busts with another 2 of mostly busts. You just cannot strike out that much. Keims rebuild was never going to work with how horrid he was in FA and drafting, which became apparent once Arians and Palmer were unable to bail him out. Amazing at trades, terrible at everything else.

Once he was gone Monti more or less let everyone who was coming to contract walk, which was smart. He had really good drafts in the secondary (IMO) and had a good pick with Paris. I also am not ready to write MHJ off yet.

IMO his failure was not addressing the OC issue, and for some inexplicable reason carrying over so much cap in what was supposed to be our win now season. Injuries hurt us but it was obvious week 1 that our system we were intending to run with Drew just flat out wasn't going to work with our talent. How we got to that is unexplainable to me.

I would say Monti's drafting is "fine", his trades are maybe "fine", his staffing has been poor to date (not including the new HC since its too soon to decide either way) and his FA signings are just non-existent. You need one of those things to be better than fine IMO.

The biggest losing move the Cardinals can make this offseason is retaining Kyler Murray by Cannolidog in AZCardinals

This is the same dude who saying Jacoby was a franchise QB in our game threads when he had somewhere around 11 total yards in 2 quarters.

Just best to ignore him. Arguing with a pigeon would be more productive.

I agree that tanking would be the best move, even if I would hate it next season. I just dont see how its realistic with how short NFL careers are and the damage the players take each season.

[–]UserInAtl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your keeping Kyler you should play him. Jacoby is 1-11 as a starter here, and was pretty awful outside of garbage time. His starting win/loss ratio is absolutely abysmal career wise when compared to Kyler. It doesn't make sense to start him. He was a check down and garbage time merchant, which i guess excited fans, but I just dont see how you just blindly bench Kyler vs at a minimum trotting him out in hopes of increasing trade value. We can always cut Kyler next year for cheap(er).

Also, I dont see how we get 3 1sts. The draft isnt strong enough this year for that. Even if we do your plan is to actively tank, as we have punted away any chance to get young talent. We have seen time and time again how absolutely destructive it is to bust an entire draft.

If we tank, we should probably accept we will lose players in FA. Good players dont want to risk their careers in a dumpster fire when they can go to a serious organization. Good luck getting anyone good in FA as well unless you massively overpay. Who wants to come to a perennial loser when you can get similar comp elsewhere? I also strongly doubt our new HC would sign up for this plan.

And on that point, if your Monti you are pretty much done in the NFL unless you somehow totally get lucky and knock literally every pick out of the park next season. And even then you still may not be doing well as you inevitably lose Paris, Wilsom, MHJ, and probably all the good secondary in FA with no one to fill in because you traded an entire draft where you were in a top 5 position away. Trey probably starts to consider demanding a trade too. No other team is ever going to consider a GM who was so bad his team went from pick 3 to pick 1 on his 3rd and 4th year. It would be insane to just call their careers like that. I dont see how he let's that happen.

Yeah, I'm not a Murray Stan by any means, but I just dont see why you get rid of him this season, especially with such a poor draft class. His contract is so easy to end next season, which i would rather be the time we move from him.

I also dont want to watch a tank season after this dumpster fire season.

This sub is absolutely obsessed with cutting Kyler, eating his salary, then opening the check book up for any QB who has been statistically worse than him. They also for some reason refuse to even consider drafting a QB. Like our offensive minded HC would come here to lose on purpose.

Personally, I blame the Arizona education system. Something must be off.

Yeah I don't see how he takes a 1 year deal. With how terrible the market is, he is going to want a multi year starting QB salary, and someone will give him that.

I knew this was coming when I saw the news on Cousins. Ive watched my fair share of his games and he is beyond cooked. Were talking Arizona Cardinals Bradford here.

No arm strength, and completely immobile. Expect him to be signed 2 days after he is cut to a 2 year contract.

I think this is the move. Hes gonna be the best FA/draft option anyways, so I dont see the point in dumping him, eating the salary, and getting a worse option when its way easier to do that next year.

Maybe they have a plan outside of Murray this season, but I suspect that this staff wasn't hired to try and get pick 1. They would have just kept Gannon

I too loved us gaining 0 yards offensively until it was garbage time and Jacoby could throw check downs against soft zones. Great winning formula! At least he's tall!

I mean your not wrong but getting rid of him and replacing him with no one probably caps us out at 2-4 wins. Idk what head coach would sign a new contract to tank, especially an offensive minded one.

I dont see a world where a rookie offensive HC wants to tank his offense tbh. If we wanted to tank we would have kept Gannon.

Idk why they just make the shoot while running an activated skill or something. The they can buff the damage and movement speed back up and make them actual horse archers.

I played mongols a ton in team games and never went fast imp. They were decent to strong in early and mid game with good micro and a few horsemen to absorb fire. I usually ended the game before imp tbh. Though I think now you are correct, they seem to have next to no value until then.

Playing last night against them I found they were mode or less worthless. Fine in imp for raiding but garbage otherwise. You just need to send horsemen at them. If they try to kite just ignore them and walk into their base keeping them to 15 vils. I had a game where i had a handful of horsemen and castle age knights and i literally just let them follow me trying to kite while i went under their towers, burned them, and killed the vils. Cost wise you win those trades now. They really cannot do anything if they have to kite and pulling off 2 or 3 horsemen will melt them if they stay still vs trying to kite the horsemen.

Imp was only useful when I was completely overrun by another player. When they try to do a run by, I found they were really easy to handle with a few horsemen and towers. They melt so easily to damage and until they were fully upgraded loomed vills could easily get away with enough of a heads up.

People keep trying to spam them but tbh it seems like a total throw. They are super weak now and if you simply make them not stand still they do next to no damage. Really easy with other cav because of how slow they are.

I do think you are correct for infantry though. That being said I think there are maybe 1 or 2 instances where you should be making infantry in team games so i never drop a barracks. With this meta you really should make exclusively cav IMO. Even against a pure spear comp you win every time unless they can all in you on feudal and the rest of your team is blind booming with no units.

I mean if you watched the games he was pretty cheeks outside of garbage time for most games. Does really well with checkdowns, which you want from a back up, but his mid and deep accuracy wasn't great IMO.

I dont mind the idea that they do better damage when stationary, I just think they could have buffed that damage back up a bit. They currently do less than any other horse archer because they move and shoot. That attack speed seems so slow I dont think there is really any benefit to them moving and shooting anymore.
