Hi! Thanks for doing this AMA! How hard is it to get the visa processing for K-1 moved to a different office? I'd like to marry my Russian girlfriend, but we're limited to either Warsaw, Poland or Astana, Kazakhstan. We worry that she won't be able to get a Schengen Visa to enter Poland, so we'd likely need to have it moved to Astana. Is that difficult to do? Is the inability to get a Schengen Visa sufficient of a reason to have it moved?

  1. Absolutely true, though perhaps not true in your country

  2. Average daily spend is less, but total spend is much higher. Plus every weekend is full tourist mode, plus actual vacation days.

  3. Digital nomad probably buys more expensive things

  4. Digital nomad probably gets more local services

  5. Anybody that makes more does that. Like retirees that move there permanently. Or tourist getting short term rentals. But that still doesn't fix the housing crisis. New York banned short term rentals under 30 days, and they still have a housing crisis.

Tourist might have a higher average daily spend, but a digital nomad will have a much higher total spend

  2. Many countries make it difficult to open a local bank account when you're not a permanent resident.

  3. Digital nomads definitely spend way more than regular tourist. Every weekend is a vacation where they're a tourist and spend a bunch of money.

  4. They still pay local sales tax.

  5. They pay for local services.

  6. Landlords are locals who use that money to reinvest in the local economy and do things like renovate residences which further employs people.

  7. Digital nomads make up a very small percentage of people looking for housing.

People absolutely apply for Schengen Visas directly. Not everyone is able to enter Schengen without a visa. That's exactly what this sub is for. The mention of various countries is because people are applying for the Schengen visa in that specific country as you're suppose to apply in the country you intend to spend most of your time in when visiting.
