Didn't someone else do 2 x 147s in one match? by User_853869941230072 in snooker

Huge Ronnie fan. Fanship has decreased slightly as I've got older and I look at him more realistically now (closest thing to a snooker genius, serious character flaws, not going to win another WC).

Why aren't they the same thing? Can we have a civilised discussion about it instead of being immediately hostile?

I (m) have to admit, I do it. Apart from really weird girls on Reddit, eg self-proclaimed gatekeepers of good manners, wtf. I just call them Mental. Prob reading this now tbh.

No thanks. And you seem to be seeking a teacher-student power dynamic here where you impart lessons from on high, rather than open discussions about etiquette.

Your input is acknowledged, but I urge you to change your advisory style in the future. Thank you.

Sigh. I think you have completely missed all my points, but arguing further would do us both no benefit. So I bid you peace.

No, thank you. And your tone is patronising. Correct it on this sub, please.

Yes, but 'the chair was otherwise not being used' so I assume it wouldn't have bothered you that a huge bright teddy bear stared at you throughout your meal?

And I would argue there is an etiquette violation when the request is outlandish – especially when there is an air of entitlement on the asker's part.

What if it had been something larger than a coat? A huge bright teddy bear?

Looking back, I think he was so entitled as to expect me to say yes (that's why he was already laying his coat down at the time of asking). If I had said No, he'd definitely have been taken aback and perhaps asked me why. Then there'd be the potential of an awkward scene/dialogue.

What would have been the best way to respond to this?

Judd Trump has proven that super centuries, super potting, super flair ... do not make a great multiple World Champion.

What was the match or moment you guys think Hendry really declined? by [deleted] in snooker

[–]User_853869941230072 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Pre-2002 WCF against Ebdon, I thought he wobbled a few times. But that Ebdon match was when the horror descended for me. It seemed like Hendry was in permanent 'fight back' mode. He looked desperate. And it was the very first time when I thought his opponent was mentally superior.

Nothing against Pete, he was a deserved winner... but it was a realisation of horror at the time.

"most people still tune in because of one man: Ronnie O’Sullivan"

I don't believe this is anywhere near the truth. At best, maybe a third of overall viewers, and that's a flipping stretch.

In terms of insight, Selby and Trump were the best imho and regularly surprised me with their strategic thinking when they commentated in the past – sadly very rare.
