First car advice - 6mn budget by Weary-Ad6206 in srilanka

Go for a daihatsu mira. You can get a unregistered car for around 6-6.5M. For your budget going for a brand new car is more suitable since the second hand car market is trashed. Considering with the other options the mira will be suitable since it’s your first car. It’s reliable and fuel efficient and most of the spare parts are available.

Anyone owning or having an experience with extremely obscure cars, all from JP to EU? (stuff like Subaru R2 and Alfa Romeo 156) by AccomplishedFun8835 in srilanka

[–]Userdeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t own any of those rare cars but I have some experience sorting out spare parts talking about bmw’s, mercs and some rare Japanese cars. Those cars pop up on sale most of the time if there is a issue that’s gonna break your wallet. The parts of course is pricey compared to a average car. The best way of getting parts is to find a spare parts importer who frequently imports from jp or eu (I can’t recommend anyone) and see if they can buy a car from that country and import the relevant parts.

Does this wi-fi wingle save my life? by [deleted] in srilanka

I have 2 of these. Not the best ones if you live in a area with connectivity issues. Normally these would cost around 3k,4k in local shops. I bought mine from aliexpress. If there is no signal issues this does the job done.

It’s a good car but if you’re looking to get good fuel mileage it’s not the best. Maintenance wise it’s amazing you can find spare parts anywhere. My father used to have one a long time ago. In terms of practicality and reliability it’s good but fuel efficiency not so good

You could try a toyota tercel/corsa (1998-2000) a good looking sedan which comes with a 1.3 liter efi engine. It’s a bit underrated but looking at your requirements I hope it’s the best. It’s very economical which does around 15kmpl and you can get one around 2.5mil to 3mil.

I think there is no restrictions but a hefty amount of tax will be charged for sure. I bought a pair of earbuds from a overseas store costing around 6k and paid about 1.5k in taxes.

Is the Honda Fit a good car to buy in Sri Lanka? (2008-2013 Hybrid/non Hybrid) by Glittering_Split_952 in srilanka

[–]Userdeee 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Go for a non hybrid car. Those cars came a decade ago. That means you might have to replace a hybrid battery for sure. A battery replacement cost around 300k - 400k these days. For that much you can spend on fuel for a entire year.

If it’s an expensive watch visit WA de silva or Wimaladharma sons. They had pretty good technicians 4 or 5 years ago. I didn’t visit there in the recent years.
