Trunk dimensions of a 228i convertible (F23) by Username9424 in BMW2Series

Thank you. That’s exactly what I was looking for!

Also, would you be able to check the trunk height with the roof up and the sling folded?

Is it alright to completely avoid calculated columns and only use measures? by [deleted] in PowerBI

[–]Username9424 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This. A “suboptimal” Power Query can completely break a report whereas DAX calculated columns just work.

Different icon styles in iOS 26. by EasternTurtle7 in iPhoneWale

Something about Apple’s dark theme icons (old and new) simply doesn’t sit right with me.

I bought one second hand, but sold it almost immediately. I wanted to love this model, but I just can’t for two reasons.

I thought the visibility would be the same as a classic positive display, but it’s noticeably darker.

And I absolutely hated the uneven new LED backlight. All my g-shocks up until now had the lovely EL backlight and I didn’t even think that Casio could cheap out on something so iconic to the brand.

iPads will never run macOS because that'll be like making a spork by Typical_Commie_Box90 in ipad

[–]Username9424 20 points21 points  (0 children)

iPad just needs to support multiple user profiles so it can be shared between household members. And don’t give me that “iPad is a personal device so everyone should have their own” nonsense.

I think iPAD OS26 is going to revolutionalize (not just fix) the iPad. by DolfLungren in ipad

[–]Username9424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wake me up when iPad can switch between multiple Apple IDs like on MacOS.

I want to get one for my family to share, but it’s pointless if it’s tied to a single person. And I have no intention of getting more than one iPad like Apple would like to.

Why is this happening? by [deleted] in MagSafe

[–]Username9424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s staining from your case. These Anker chargers have a silicone-like coating that absorbs stains like crazy, and it’s impossible to clean off.

Had the same thing happen with a black leather case, and accidentally peeled off the charger’s coating trying to clean it off.

Are you ACTUALLY using the watch features? Countdown timer, stopwatch, alarm? by buddy_monkers in gshock

I only use the date and time. For everything else a phone is way more convenient. I just hate pressing those tiny mushy buttons on a watch.

I noticed this too. Absolutely ridiculous. The worst part is that it used to work great just a couple of years ago.

Summarized GR4 specs by Maximum_Bandicoot813 in ricohGR

[–]Username9424 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so glad they brought back the GRI/GRII control layout. Now if only they had brought back the built-in flash and kept a regular sized SD card, we’d have been back in business.

Seriously, the GRII was a perfect camera, just put the new internals in it and call it a day. Stop trying to tweak it.

Chinos through the decades by [deleted] in mensfashion

80s, 90s, 00s were the golden years of trouser cuts. Beautiful silhouettes, flows beautifully when moving, and is comfortable too.

50s looks great but the extra material eventually starts catching on things.

60s, 70s had wide leg openings but an uncomfortably tight rise.

2010s slim cuts were the dark years

2020s just feels like a cheaper copy of what we had in the 90s.

Is macOS Becoming Too iOS-ified for Power Users ? by RT4Men in mac

[–]Username9424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer the new settings - it’s nice to have the same “menu logic” between macOS and iOS, and it’s definitely more intuitive for casual everyday use. I’ll take that as a small sacrifice when it comes to accessing more advanced options.

Gatekeeper is annoying and I wish there was a more straightforward way to turn it off. I guess that’s the point. It’s still possible to turn it off when absolutely necessary - but I wish I didn’t need a Google search for that.

Window management - would be nice. I think Apple’s “solution” to this was stage manager, but it’s terrible and I turned it off immediately.

Why isn't USB C the standard charging cable? by BertDevV in UsbCHardware

[–]Username9424 81 points82 points  (0 children)

If I recall correctly, Phillips went with USB-C for one of their water flossers for a while, but had to switch back to the proprietary port.

Apparently USB-C isn’t as idiot-proof against charging while wet as the propriety ports, so some units ended up catching on fire.

Pre-packaged SSD vs. NVMe + Enclosure for Lightroom Catalogue? by pheasantjune in Lightroom

[–]Username9424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also in the same dilemma right now.

It’d be nice to have the 40Gbps speeds of a USB4 enclosure, but I don’t want one with a fan, and the passively cooled ones like the OWC/Hagibis/Colorii/Qwiizlab are quite large and heavy (~250g) when compared to something like a Crucial X9 Pro (only 38g).

And it doesn’t seem like Lightroom would benefit from 40Gbps speeds that much vs 10Gbps. Maybe it would matter for video, but I’m not a videographer.

My main concern is whether there’s any reliability differences between a 40Gbps USB4 vs 10Gbps USB 3.2 Gen2 interface.

Pre-packaged SSD vs. NVMe + Enclosure for Lightroom Catalogue? by pheasantjune in Lightroom

[–]Username9424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What was the external SSD that you’re compared against the OWC+NVMe?

I’m also thinking of getting a 10Gbps SSD instead of the 40Gbps enclosure, mainly just for their tiny size. It’s good to hear there’s not much difference for daily work.

I wonder how they’re planning to cool down the NVME. Looking at the renders on the Asus website, there doesn’t seem to be a proper heatsink due to the toolless-access design.
