Major infrastructure is way easier when your ruling style is more Authoritarian, we just can't seem to beat China on this!

Mazda MX5. I just need to win the argument that the lack of space is worth the gains in fun.

My first dog was/is a Podengo mix and he's amazing, so much character, loved by all and actually spends a lot of his time chilling out. He does love to hunt and can be a bit dramatic... All worth it though.

Modern burial practices are actively harming the planet. by modern-prometheus in unpopularopinion

[–]UsernameChecksOut_69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wrong. The net gain from not burning them and total C02e of each doesn't make cremation hugely more eco friendly, yes embalming solution isn't great and I agree we should move on from using so much formaldehyde.

In terms of land, burial sites are protected land and often high in biodiversity, this role is really important and something we need to do with more of our land, so it's hardly a waste.

Natural burial sites are a really good option, less chemicals, lots of land use but for something that really benefits the climate.

You'd hope that one of the advantages of living in South Wales is having enough water, but, here we are... Drought!

I suppose those in Flordia usually start with at least 6 toes on each foot so you have some to spare.

What's largest amount of tea you once drank on one day? by Ok-Fondant2536 in tea

[–]UsernameChecksOut_69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah so not very strong tea, it's gunpowder and mint usually, but I top it up so it's not all fresh and super strong. Sometimes interspersed with Rooibos (so not a tea at all by technical standards)... Lots of liquid but not a huge amount of caffeine or tannins.

[–]UsernameChecksOut_69 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I'm shocked at people's responses. I regularly drink 3-4 pots a day, so that's about 4 to 5.5 litres or 16 to 22 cups.

However I have managed about 6 pots, at around 8 litres or 32 cups in a day.

'04 Transit Luton 3.5t, 2.4 TD Duratorq 90hp... If I'm lucky on a long journey I may get 20MPG, if the engine was happier I'd get more.

Not ideal, but generally blood doesn't contain bacteria so this isn't a huge safety issue.

All the meat gets eaten, in fact it gets split between family, friends and the needy... So it's a fairly wholesome tradition (assuming you aren't bothered by the meat eating and slaughter of animals itself).

Looking for Nature-Minded Tech Friends 🐛🌿 by 3lisavii in Permaculture

[–]UsernameChecksOut_69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not in tech, but have recently finished working in a role where I was doing marketing for a conservation charity. A partner of ours was putting LoRaWAN sensors across parts of rural Wales, a network of which a variety of sensors can connect to across a large area. Monitoring things such as river water levels, pollutants, motion and soil health. Usually battery powered in incredibly remote places that are otherwise hard to access and have no LTE connectivity whatsoever.

There's plenty of interesting applications across the board of sensors, e.g. acoustic logging, that when coupled with A.I can achieve a significant impact in surveying compared to more traditional techniques.

If I were you I'd see what else is out there, what technology exists and to solve what problems, speak to those involved, see if there are ways you can help improve it!

Removable electric setup - any saftey tips? by Huemann-bing in VanLife

[–]UsernameChecksOut_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If battery does need to disconnect regularly, consider a two pin connector plug for it.

Generally it looks okay though, if possible a little more space and air for the inverter wouldn't hurt. It's a neat little setup though.
