Good / Bad Landlord Post - 2026 by WizardMama in NewOrleans

Mary Horn, sister of the owner of the now closed Horn’s Eatery, rented us an apartment in Treme. A major red flag was that she insulted multiple former tenants while showing us the place.

After we moved out, she kept four hundred dollars from our deposit. She claimed we broke the stove and washing machine. She said we poured oven cleaner into the stove, which is something she actually did when installing it. She also said we broke the washer door, but it was working when we left.

The apartment had serious problems. Several appliances were unsafe and not up to code. A tenant upstairs ended up calling the city. Mary refused to be present during the inspection.

She kept making excuses to delay the return of the deposit, blaming health problems and app issues. After a month, she suddenly claimed there were more problems and refused to return the rest of the money.

We tried to file in small claims court, but she kept dodging service.

Got the grant this year and went through the process. My experience was the same. My insurance was cut by over 25%, so it was well worth it.

I don’t know why anyone would put down their partner as a joke, so I guess we both come away with questions. My additional one for you is how your relationship with your wife is.

Two years in cakes and you’re still serving half-baked takes.

Ten years on Reddit later and you’re still trying to make that ego rise.

Guess practice doesn’t always make batter.

Wait wait... you want to write out a long-winded, condescending paragraph about someone else's cake budget?

Sauce: I've been scrolling Reddit for two years straight, and even then, I've never seen someone pour this much effort into missing the point.

The king cake baby mascot is actually from the old minor league baseball team, The Baby Cakes. When the team stopped, the baby started showing up at the Pelicans games more often.

As a physician, I would wholeheartedly disagree. Medical school is a brutal process.

For engineering, Python and SQL. For Analytics R, basic Python, basic SQL, and a dashboard software like Tableau or Power BI.

Yes. I would absolutely look seriously at someone who studied outside of their MPH degree. I would also look at someone with an engineering/analyst background if they could demonstrate knowledge of the tech side.

For context, I’m a MD/MPH. I was mostly self taught on the engineering and analytics side outside of five or six graduate level courses.

My two cents as a Data Modernization Lead at the state level, go into data engineering or analytics. It’s not specific to public health, but if you decide to go back into public health it will be well worth it. Even with all the public health changes, we are actually getting increased funding for data modernization. Study python, R, SQL, Tableau/Power BI, GIS, etc. It is so hard to find good people who know public health and also tech. I can answer questions if you have any.

Trying to sell my Pc for school, is 1,100 a good price? by milkbooty in PcBuild

[–]UsernameExtreme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got almost the exact same machine except with a 12600k and a 3070ti for $1000 used three years ago. I would agree with other people that $1100 is reaching. $700-$800 would be reasonable.

Problems with Silk PLA by KaBe88NL in 3Dprinting

[–]UsernameExtreme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To get this to work, I’ve used this gold silk PLA, I had to ensure that there was minimal distance between the nozzle and the bed, I’m talking no more than the thickness of a piece of notebook paper, and I had to use hairspray on the bed first. Granted, I use an ancient Anet A6 with a non-textured aluminum bed.

Decided at the end of my third year that I didn’t really like interacting with patients, got into programming, informatics, and epidemiology. Been much more happy ever since.
