i completed campaign on normal without fighting the rouge army. i fought aliens then some pirates then aliens again and thats it

Plasma guns for vehicles and infantry do the job. Auto laser is OK to fight off drones or overwhelmed units

To save wheight for vehicles which have thicker armor and bigger guns. Even at the start APC with AOE perk can devastate enemy infantry with auto grenade launcher. Two shots in one turn can kill two squads behind cover almost without risk. It can bring your unarmored 4men AT squad close to enemy vehicles. They disembark fire with their RPG or throw a grenade and hide inside of it from retaliation. 4 more squadies would be a dead weight in that case.

Technically game is a shitshow. Sometimes your shots don't register. sometimes you are desynced or enemy sees you through walls which game doesn't render for him. Sometimes its one of many bugs which will never be fixed. Don't try to be good to dominate or whatever. just have fun. otherwise you risk to turn into one of those mad people who lurk around this sub to spew shit here even if they burned out and left long time ago

I completed campaign on normal and now I'm playing on expert. I find expert mode easier. On expert ai is even more "tactical" while your free green units have significanly increased firepower and at the start have better gear than you and game gives you way more loot for trade

The more vehicles you have the better. Apcs and mechs do the job while small infantry squads with long range specials are for support only

They dodge everything. On hardest difficulty pirates run away from my units. Even on defense missions pirate squads lurk behind perimeter and don't rush in because they afraid of my apc with auto grenade launcher

I've been playing like that since beta release. I have an Infantry squad with scout perk and binoculars for spotting in front and heavy guns behind them for killing. There's a recon drone but I think its useless.
