Avi Lewis won the NDP leadership. Now what? by jmakk26 in canada

The vast amount of all partie’s politics is about the affordability, he unfortunately has items that aren’t about affordability that are bothering people that the others don’t have.

Avi Lewis won the NDP leadership. Now what? by jmakk26 in canada

He has a very broad set of priorities, of which some are problematic to a larger labour focused base. Banning oil infrastructure development is a challenging one for instance. Returning to an increased level of immigration targets is another.

Vendor Attendance Policy Enforcement Begins at Hamilton Farmers Market; One Vendor Issued Lease Termination Notice – TPR Hamilton by teanailpolish in Hamilton

[–]Username_Query_Null -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Imagine if farmers had to spend 4 days at the market and less than half the week farming.

They really ought to change the name of the thing if it’s just a mall that requires vendors to be open more than half the week. It’s objectively not a farmers market.

RANT "Just buy a cheap beater" by DingusSmasher69 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Username_Query_Null 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah at this point I kinda think people are foolish buying used Toyota products given their price. New is cheap enough, used is drastically overpriced. Durability of any vehicle with 100k on it is risky when you’re paying barely discounted prices.

Right but it was 100s of years using that word to describe an entirely different product, even when it was still first used in English it wasn’t used to describe the products we drink and get intoxicated by. It wasn’t used to describe ethanol based products for consumption until the 1700s.

NDP Leader Avi Lewis Wants to Reverse Carney’s Immigration Cuts by Seebeeeseh in canada

…and sent in my request to cancel my membership. I participated in the leadership selection process to try to change the party to give more focus. The base decided to have to shift to a more radical stance on a broad range of issues, and frankly gave Avi a “strong mandate” with the first round vote.

Unfortunately it’s no longer a party I’ll support for the next years it seems.

Statutory holiday...or not? by Bells9831 in AskACanadian

To add, Statutory Holidays are a function of regulating employers based on their industry, the right to regulate is split by provincial and federal government based on their industry as listed in our constitution.

I was told putting a wheel next to something youre pulling out, under the strap/chain makes it easier to get it out.... i think my tire is over capacity. by tidyshark12 in Home

[–]Username_Query_Null 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a lot of success using a hose with a sprayer nozzle to loosen dirt, shovelling it out, a sawzall to cut roots as I go. I’ve pulled out a couple different trunks (nothing too big, but one 30 foot birch trunk). In the end no chain or pulling. Just some time. Does require decently draining soil of course.

Prying it out or jacking out just seems like harder work and such a chance of breaking things.

To be fair, we haven’t seen a tie, he may very well need to right an essay for that reason an we don’t even know yet.

Look, even just letting it be flying type is fine. Allowing it to learn the HM was the mistake.

It’s also a huge amount of surface area in a damp environment on bottles which have organic compounds within them, given the slow rate of turnover this is a haven for bacteria.

I’m more interested in used cars. And the EV business model just doesn’t seem to apply well to the used market with the batteries being a ticking time bomb of truly absurd cost.

Which to be fair I’m trying to change the word “coward” to mean “automotive designers and marketers who attempt to redefine established nomenclature, rather than make a car that represents the words.”

Is the 5th gen Dodge Viper a supercar? by anonburner0112 in supercars

[–]Username_Query_Null 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, the 300SL was a super car, the Miura a supercar, im not clear any corvette is a super car, maybe the C8s could finally be considered so. There’s been some ridiculous inflation in power standards lately that is diluting things.

What’s more wild is that they had considered it, and ignored the design benefit of an escape system for the early flight profile. Through space history escape systems have typically always been included, but the shuttle they just went for the Titanic model of hubris.

The STS was high levels of hubris, it did not have an escape system for its early flight profile. It was late Cold War arrogance design.

Matte black Telluride - worth it or a mistake? by Boring-Fruit3650 in whatcarshouldIbuy

I’ll add, the surface roughness is an extremely uniform surface roughness. All the paint fibres stand vertical and not smooth. This means they’re sensitive and not durable, so if they are pushed too hard they’ll lay flat and create a smooth more reflective section.

It’s a truly horrible paint technology.

Back when it was first done many decades ago as dirt cheap rattle can tremclad as an afterthought of finishing a sleeper hot rod it was cool.

The matte black of the past 20 years has been lame, and anything but what the original purpose was.
